Verna L. Thompson

Verna L Thompson born April 25, 1935 went to be with the Lord January 2, 2021.
Verna was predeceased by her parents Alvin and Rachel Thompson of LeRoy, SASK, her husband of 24 years Allen Thompson, son: Elden Thompson, sisters: Mary Lou (George) Braitenbach, Aletha (Roy) Stein and Ramona (Charlie) Boseke.Verna is survived by children: Lea Beach (husband Randy Krohn), Omaha, NE; David Thompson Mounds View, MN; and Daniel (Jann) Thompson Adams, ND; siblings: Fern (Ed) Wagner Saskatoon, SASK; and Johnny (Sandra) Thompson of LeRoy, SASK; friend: Ron Boseke, Adams, ND, grandchildren: Carla Grossman Ardoch, ND; Connor Slasson Duluth, MN; Brigit (Tony) Pagenkopf, Rosesemount/Apple Valley, MN; great grandchildren: Evra Grossman, Evan Rohrik, Ryder Llanes and many cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States.
Although Verna was a permanent resident and expert on the United States-including each state’s capital- she remained a Canadian citizen. After coming to the United States in the 1950’s she met and married Allen Thompson.  They had four children. The family moved around quite a bit but spent all of their lives in North Dakota and Minnesota. Verna was a wonderful homemaker and mother to her four children. She loved games, puzzles, dolls, butterflies, and birds. She never knew what boredom was and stayed busy baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, sweet buns, lefse and many other delights that we will all miss. Her days were spent watching her favorite shows including a soap opera or two and of course the news.  She kept up on world events and always let us know when bad weather was headed our way-whether we were in the same state as her or not.
A private family service will be Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River.    A walk through visitation will be held from 12:00 -1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.  Interment will be at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery of rural Park River, ND, in the spring.  A video of the service will be posted on the Tollefson Funeral Home website following the service.
