 Dorothy Mae Scholler, 75, of Cavalier, ND passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, in Cavalier. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. rosary service at the church. Interment will be at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Leroy, ND. Service will be webcast at www.askewfuneralhome.com following the service.
Dorothy Mae Letexier was born April 15, 1945 at Grafton, ND to Frank and Lena (Martineau) Letexier. She grew up on the family farm near Leroy, ND and also attended country school there. Dorothy Mae graduated from Aaker’s Business College and worked at the Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks as a nurse’s aide Later she worked at the Pembilier Nursing Center in Walhalla, ND. On November 17, 1973, she married LaVerne D. Scholler and in 2001, their marriage was blessed in the church. She worked on the O.C. Schulz and Sons Farm at Crystal, ND and the Needle Nook in Cavalier. Things Dorothy Mae enjoyed were reading, needle work, cross stitching, and going to the casinos. Survivors include her daughters: Sheryl (Dave) McGlynn, East Grand Forks, MN and Sandy (Michael) Sackett, Grafton, ND, grandchildren: Travis Rasmussen, Derek (Becky) Rasmussen, Cory (Mikki), Laura, and Garrett Barclay, and Briana (Thomas) Martens and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings: Ramona Latraille, Louise Gariepy, Joyce Ann (Joel) Stirbiski, many nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, LaVerne, great-grandchildren, Liam and Evelynn Rasmussen, brothers: Edward, James, Thomas, Gene, and Richard, sisters, Beatrice, Bernice and Marguerite.

 Douglas T. Davis, age 67 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Douglas T. Davis was born February 4, 1953 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Percy and Agnes (Bazal) Davis. He attended elementary school in Nash, ND and graduated from Grafton High School in 1971. He graduated from UND in Grand Forks with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 1976. Following his education he returned home and started farming with his father. Doug was united in marriage to Janelle Sveen on June 19, 1987 in Grafton, ND. The couple made their home on the family farm for several years before moving into Grafton. Doug was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, UND Champions Club. He served on the board at Associated Potato Growers Association and Dundee Mutual Insurance. He was an avid UND Sioux Hockey and Winnipeg Jets Fan. He loved to hunt and spend time with his family. Doug is survived by his wife Janelle, Grafton, ND; his children: Jess (Logan) Hanson, Springfield, TN; Adam Davis, Grafton, ND and Andrew Davis, Nashville, TN; his sisters: Vicki (Curtis) Nelson, Yucca Valley, CA and Gayle (Robert) Lee, Harvey, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sandra and nephew, Ross. Due to the current pandemic, there will be a walk through visitation on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Grafton. A private funeral Mass will be held at 10:30. Interment will be at the Landstad Cemetery in Auburn, ND. Social distancing and face masks are required. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Tollefson Funeral Home Inc. Facebook page. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the Unity Medical Center Foundation.  Dale L. Davidson Sr. age 74, passed away November 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. Memorial service will be held Friday, June 18, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. outside on the church lawn at United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be one hour before one hour before the time of the service. The family requests you bring umbrellas and lawn chairs. Graveside service will be held Sunday June 20, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Fellowship will follow the graveside service at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 321 7th Ave E, Sisseton, SD. Memorials can be directed to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Dale was born August 15, 1946 in Sisseton, SD to Leonard and Ida (Gilbertson) Davidson. He grew up on the family farm in the hills of Sisseton, SD. He attended One Road township country school through 8th grade and graduated from Peever, SD High School in 1964. Dale married his high school sweetheart Patty (Crooks) on March 16, 1968 at Peever United Methodist Church. He served in the Army from 1968-1970. After basic training he served in Germany with the rank of specialist, where Dale Jr. and Patty were able to join him. Dale and Patty’s first home was in Waubun, MN. Dale worked in the grocery business for forty plus years in Williston, Crosby, Ortonville, MN and Cavalier. He was custodian at the Clinic in Cavalier and after retiring became custodian at the following churches: Evangelical Free, Cavalier Baptist, St. Brigid’s Catholic, United Methodist and United Lutheran (where he was a member). His hobbies and interests included; Gardening, woodworking, splitting wood, listening to music, playing cards, visiting family and coffee with the guys and round table discussions with the flower shop girls. Dale was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He loved to laugh, joke, get to know and help people in his own unique way. He was kind, loving and gentle hearted. Dale is survived by his wife Patricia; Sons: Dale & Jodi (LeTexier), Chris & Penny (Pewe), Daughter: Stephanie (Davidson) & Robert Bill. Grandchildren: Brandon Davidson, Mason, Carter, Emily and Lily Bill. He was preceded in death by: Leonard & Ida Davidson (parents), Melvin & Beatrice Crooks (father and mother-in-law), Irvin Davidson (brother), Carol Davidson, Kathy Reyelts, Norma Davidson (sister-in-laws); Harold Froidevaux, Dick Lehrke (brother-in-laws). Gary Dean Hagler, 80, of Cando, ND passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. A private family funeral service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Cando with Pastor Rick Craig officiating. Music will be provided by Gladys Fluge. Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando. Burial will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Cando at 11am on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Gary was born on November 14, 1940 in Mott, ND to Roy and Mildred (Bosanco) Hagler. Gary was raised on the family farm and completed his elementary education at Timber Creek School. He graduated from Mott Lincoln High School where he was involved in football, basketball, FFA, and was a class officer. Gary then attended Dickinson State College where he completed a composite science major and played football. Gary was a science and math teacher in Egeland, ND and also taught drivers education. He coached the football, track, and basketball teams and also was the janitor at Egeland School starting in 1980. Gary owned and operated Cando Greenhouse for a number of years. He retired and enjoyed watching activities of his grandchildren. Gary was united in marriage to Sharon Bergan on June 23, 1962 in Mott and to that union five children were born: Laurie, Wendy, Sherri, Jeff, and Corey. Sharon passed away in 2002. He married Peggy Watson in 2004. He enjoyed traveling, camping with family, gardening, woodworking and other building, puzzles, cards and other games, and bowled for many years. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan. He and Peggy were able to take two bus tours to major league baseball stadiums and a cruise to Alaska. Gary is survived by his wife, Peggy, daughters, Laurie (Lonnie) Komrosky, Wendy (Victor) Pintar, and Sherri (Brad) Miller; sons, Jeff (Marla) Hagler and Corey (Lisa) Hagler, all of Cando; grandchildren, Tanner (Ashley) Komrosky, Jayden Komrosky, Jesse (Jill) Vote, Megan Vote, Kodie Vote, Stephanie Miller, Jacob Hagler, Sarah (Mason) Haley, Danielle Hagler, Hayden Hagler, Dane Hagler, and Hunter Hagler. He is also survived by his brother, Arlin Hagler of California. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; and brother, Don Hagler.  Robert E. Stewart, 94, of Grafton, North Dakota, formerly of Drayton, North Dakota, died Sunday the 29 of November, at the Lutheran Sunset Home, in Grafton. Born April 1, 1926 to Herbert A. and Segre W. (Carlson) Stewart in Walsh County, North Dakota. He married Constance G. Cray on December 24, 1951 in Quincy, Illinois. She died on October 28, 1986. He married Mary Lou Buchanan on April 15, 1988 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She died on July 29, 2018. Robert was a World War II veteran of the Navy, and served in the South Pacific. He was a millwright for International Harvester-Farmall, retiring in 1985.
Robert is survived by three children, Dennis (Cynthia) of Burlington, Iowa; Roberta Elmendorf of Davenport, Iowa; Harold C. Stewart of San Francisco, California; and a step-daughter Cheryl (Andy) Adamson of Drayton, North Dakota. Five Grandchildren Erik Stewart, Allison Stewart, Brett (Liz) Stewart, Nikki Stewart and Sean Stewart; and one step-granddaughter, Marie Adamson. Eight great grandchildren. Two brothers-in-law, David Cray (Connie) and H. Dean Cray (Marcia); and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; both wives; three brothers, Charles, Jack, and James; one sister, Jean Larsen, and a son-in-law, Charles Elmendorf. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private family burial will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa on Wednesday the 9th of December, at 1:00 pm. Askew Funeral Home of Cavalier, North Dakota, are in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established for the Special Needs Foundation of Des Moines County.  Selma C. Johnson, age 98 formerly of Park River, ND, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at her daughter’s home in West Fargo, ND.
Selma Christianson was born April 23, 1922 in Kensington Township, Walsh County, ND, the daughter of the late Theodore and Kari (Gire) Christianson. She attended school in Park River, ND. She was united in marriage to Gordon M. Johnson on March 25, 1943 in Crookston, MN. They had nine children. Selma worked in various places in the community, including the Good Samaritan Center where she worked as a dietary aide for 17 years. She retired in 1995 at the age of 73. Selma was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was involved in the women’s missionary fellowship and enjoyed bible study with other church members. Selma developed lifelong friendships with her church family. Selma’s family was the center of her world. She loved them unconditionally. She was always true to her words and by God’s grace she was able to forgive and forget quickly. Through her faith she learned it is important to “Let it go and give it to God.” She was devoted to her faith and trusted in the Lord with all her heart. Selma enjoyed many things such as: reading her daily devotions, visiting over coffee, gardening, baking, bird watching, doing puzzles and playing Skip-Bo, Uno and Chinese Checkers with her grandchildren. She was the happiest when she was able to spend time with her family. She had a quick-witted sense of humor and loved to laugh. Selma is survived by her children: Susan (Bill) Folendorf, Bismarck, ND, Maryann (Charlie) Greicar, Bismarck, ND, Guy (Gail) Johnson, Edinburg, ND, Gordon Johnson, Minneapolis, MN, Judy (Keith) Papenfuss, West Fargo, ND, and Alan (Jeanette) Johnson, Minto, ND; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, brothers Clarence, Morris, Arthur and Nels, sons Richard and Wayne, daughter Karen, grandson Travis, nephew Wayne Christianson. Memorial services will be held at a later date.  John H. Riske, age 77 of Forest River, ND, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.
John Hilary Riske was born September 12, 1943 in Grafton, ND, the son of the late Hilary and Leona (Korynta) Riske. He graduated from Forest River High School in 1961 and the University of North Dakota in 1965 with a degree in Accounting. He returned to the family farm to farm and raise cattle with his father and brother, Ronnie. John was united in marriage to JoAnn Bellinger on August 21, 1970 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Ardoch, ND. The couple made their home near Forest River. He retired from farming in 1999 and in 2000 began working at Marvin’s for eleven years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Ardoch, ND and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Minto, ND, serving on parish council for both churches. He was a member of the St. John’s Men’s Club, Park River Knights of Columbus, the Forest River Pistol and Rifle Club, the Forest River Volunteer Fire Department and served on the board for the Forest River Elevator. John loved his family and enjoyed playing cards. John is survived by his wife, JoAnn Riske, Forest River, ND; children: Patrick (Diane) Riske, Forest River, ND; Kathryn Duben, Anderson, South Carolina; grandchildren: Anna and Andrew Riske; siblings: Patty (David) Wilson, East Grand Forks, MN; Mary Ann Bayne, Belpre, OH; Donnie (Bonnie) Riske, Forest River, ND; Kathy (Rodger) Common, Mesa, AZ; Hilary “Butch” (Julie) Riske, Grand Forks, ND; Christine (Vernon) Langowski, Grand Forks, ND; step-father-in-law, Joe Goodman, San Antonio, TX; siblings-in-law: Tom Bellinger, Lansford, ND; Dick (Becky) Bellinger, Pueblo, CO; Lola Hansmann, San Antonio, TX. Hagen, age 85 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Gene Richard Hagen was born July 26, 1935 the son of the late Louis and Ella (Ackerland) Hagen in Park River, ND. He was raised and attended school in the Park River area. He was united in married to Rosalie Kasprick on June 30, 1959 in Grafton. Gene worked with his father Louis, running the family business Hagen Construction. Gene took over the business after his father’s death and ran it until his retirement. Gene was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was the ultimate Minnesota Vikings fan, but his greatest love was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosalie; his children: Mark (Kathy) Hagen, Grafton, ND; Roger (Adele) Hagen, Sterling, VA; and Susie (John) Corneillie, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Tawnya Hagen Luoma, Grafton, ND; Derek Corneillie, Fargo, ND; Taylor (Ross) Belgarde, Fargo, ND; and great grandchildren: Mayson, Madyson, Emersyn, Grayson Luoma and Cohen Belgarde; sister-in-law: Joy Hagen, Georgia. Gene is the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Ron, Don, and Dennis Hagen and his sister, Shirley Orstad. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 23, 2020 at 2:30 P.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. A walk through visitation will be from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the church. Due to COVID restrictions, capacity requirements and social distancing will be observed, masks will be required. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery following the service.  Darlene A. “Holly” Adamsen age 76, of Grafton, ND passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Darlene Angela Humble was born August 30, 1944 in Cando, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Howard and Frances (Mitzel) Humble. She graduated from Cando High School and attended Cosmetology School in Devils Lake. She moved to Grafton and worked at Verna’s Beauty Shop. Darlene was united in marriage to Alan Adamsen on October 14, 1966 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She worked for Grafton Public School in the kitchen and Swirl and Curl. In 1985, Darlene purchased Verna’s Beauty Shop along with partners Larae Osowski and Joyce Anderson. The couple moved to Bismarck in 2010 and back to Grafton in 2015 to retire. She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society, taught CCD, chaired fall suppers and Christmas Eve parties. She was very talented and loved her hobbies of baking, cooking (wedding cakes), sewing, quilting and crafts. She loved her family dearly and always made sure they were all taken care of. Darlene is survived by her husband of 54 years, Alan Adamsen, Grafton, ND; her children: Craig (Denise) Adamsen, Grafton, ND; Heath (Anna) Adamsen, Grafton, ND; Angie (LeRay) Paulson, Bismarck, ND; Nicole (Brian) Jacobson, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren: Britney, Kayla, Kelsey, LaTesa, Shane, Charlie, Logan, Austen and Donovan; 15 great grandchildren; siblings: Margaret, Lois, Vincent and Vernon and her mother-in-law, Lolly Adamsen, Grafton, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law, Charles “Bob” Adamsen, sister-in-law, Judy Henning and nephew, Patrick Humble.
