Raymond J. Eastman May 17, 1954 — June 4, 2026 Cavalier Raymond J. Eastman, 72, of Cavalier, ND passed away Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Heather’s House in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home in Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held one hour before the time of services. Burial will be held in the Hallson Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Pembina County Historical Society, Borg Home, Pembina County Fair, or charity of your choice. Raymond was born the only child of Andrew and Amity (Porter) Eastman on May 17, 1954. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Cavalier, graduating in 1973. Ray then continued his education at Lake Region College in Devils Lake, ND, before returning to the farm. Things he enjoyed were spending time at the Pembina County Fair, Pioneer Machinery Show and Museum, taking rides for ice cream, and visiting with friends. Raymond also spent many hours tending his cattle, putting up haystacks, walking the land, and starting his own Christmas tree farm after working at Pages Pines. He was a member of the former First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Amity, grandparents, Ira and Jennie Porter, and Barney and Christine Eastman, several aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Daniel A. Daley, age 75 of Park River, North Dakota passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Daniel Ardell Daley was born August 21, 1950, in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of the late Ardell and Mary (Ganyo) Daley. He attended school in Grafton, graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in 1968, and attended NDSU. He began working for Polar Communications in 1970 and continued there until his retirement in February 2006. Daniel was united in marriage to Sandra Pokrzywinski on June 17, 1972, at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople. The couple made their home in Park River, where they raised their family. He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Park River and a dedicated member of the Park River Volunteer Fire Department, serving his community since 1976. Dan loved his family tremendously and shared a special bond with his brother, Tim. Whether they were planting potatoes and corn, cruising the back roads, or tackling a project, the two were rarely far apart. They always seemed to find something that needed to be fixed. You could often find Dan at the Eastside enjoying a cup of coffee or a cold beer, and a good conversation with friends. He never passed up the opportunity to visit and was known for telling stories—often the same stories more than once—but somehow, they were just as entertaining every time he told them. Dan loved the outdoors, especially hunting season and fishing trips with friends. He also looked forward to making deer bologna and summer sausage, a tradition that brought family and friends together. Dan enjoyed spending time with all his kids and grandkids (especially playing cards). He was always willing to lend a helping hand or answer the many questions that came his way. He loved the time he spent at the lake with his family and appreciated the opportunity to travel, go camping or attend car shows. Dan and Sandy enjoyed spending time together on trips to the casino, where he accompanied her to bingo and occasionally took in a concert. Daniel is survived by his wife, Sandra Daley, Park River, ND; his children, Scott (Shelly Dub) Daley, Pisek, ND; Trish (John) Dukek, West Fargo, ND; Trudy (Jeremy) Boelter, Moorhead, MN; Jon Daley, Park River, ND; and Shawn (Shelby) Daley, Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Jessica, Nevin, Cody, Kailey, Kristin, Erica, Xander, Autumn, Ava, Liam, Hayden, Annabelle, Mackenzie, Landon, and Serena; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim (Renae) Daley, Park River, ND; Kathy Wilmer, Park River, ND; Tim (Cheryl) Daley, Park River, ND; and Renee Ortado, Greeley, CO; brother-in-law, Randy (Sue) Pokrzywinski, Walker, MN; sister-in-law, Lori Meske, Hillsboro, ND; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sandra “Sandy” Drevecky, age 65 of Langdon and formerly of Adams, ND passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Sandra Lynn Bjorlin was born October 3, 1960, in Morris MN, the daughter of Calvin and Vivian (Banister) Bjorlin. She was raised on a farm near Donnelly, MN and attended & graduated from Herman School, class of 1979 as Valedictorian. Sandy attended University of Minnesota – Morris, graduating with a bachelor's degree in biology. While in college, she enjoyed working at the nursing home in Morris as a CNA. Sandy met Mark Drevecky and they united in marriage on September 19, 1987, in Donnelly, MN. Mark and Sandy moved to the family farm after they were married and ran the dairy farm until 1996. She worked at the Adams School as a paraprofessional as well during this period. Sandy then worked at Farmers Union Oil Company/CHS until she retired in January 2026. The love of her life, Mark, passed away on November 30, 2021. She was a member of Adams Mountain Lutheran Church and the former Adams American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting with her granddaughters. She loved spending time with her family and friends, but nothing came close to how much she loved spending time with her granddaughters. She will be dearly missed. Denault, age 77 of Park River, ND passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Leland G. Denault was born August 8, 1948 in Walsh County North Dakota the son of the late Richard and Adeline (Kittelson) Denault. He attended rural schools. Following his education he worked on the family farm and later worked as farm labor for area farmers. He made his home in Lankin before retiring to Park River. He was a member of the Victory Free Lutheran Church of Park River. Leland enjoyed driving the county side looking at crops and collecting. He loved being outdoors and listening to music. He is survived by his siblings: Gerald (Diann) Denault, Adams, ND; Lynette (Randy) Trosen, Park River, ND; Lynelle (Yon) Shutt, Minto, ND. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Allen and Roland and special friend, Gayle Swartz. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arnold E. Bjerke, age 73 of Edinburg, ND, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Arnold was born January 15, 1953 in Grafton, ND, the adopted son of the late Otto and Agnes (Nelson) Bjerke. He grew up near Adams, ND and attended schools in Adams and later Edinburg, graduating from Edinburg High School in 1971. Following his education, he began farming and worked for many years building homes for Bakke Homes. He was a self-taught carpenter and electrician, and was excellent with technology, always willing to help those in need. He was married to LuWanna Haave from 1973-1998 and together they raised their daughter Danielle, who was the light of his life. Most recently he was helping his good friend Bob Kertz on the farm along with his nephew Mike Berg. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. He enjoyed farming, bowling, going to the races and spending time with his dog Mabel. Arnold is survived by his niece Kristi Anderson, nephews: Scott and Ryan Severson, as well as many cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Agnes Bjerke, his daughter Danielle Bjerke-Hagen, and brother Hal Severson. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of Edinburg, ND. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Dennis Hansel, 81, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. Dennis Joseph Hansel was born on January 30, 1945, in Langdon, ND, to Anna Mae and Joseph Hansel. He grew up in Langdon and graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in 1962. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Army, serving in Thailand in communications. Following his military service, he returned to Langdon and began a long and dedicated career with United Telephone Company, where he worked from 1970 until his retirement in 2014. On February 22, 1969, Dennis married the love of his life, Drina, at St. Alphonsus Church in Langdon. Beginning in the early 1980s, he became active in Eastern Star and the Masons. He was also a devoted and wellloved Shriner with the KEM Temple, where he proudly served as Potentate in 2012. Dennis found great joy in serving on committees, attending ceremonies and events, participating in parades, and traveling to Imperial Session. His commitment to service and community was a defining part of his life. Dennis is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Blair Seelhammer) of Rochester, MN; grandchildren: Taylor, Jaxon, and Julia Seelhammer of Rochester, MN; siblings: Wayne (Debbie) Hansel, Mary Lou (Tom) Lorenz, Robert (Stephanie) Hansel, Patsy (Garold) Vaagen, and Jerry (Denise) Hansel; sistersinlaw Karen Hansel and Pauline Hansel; brotherinlaw Ron Lenz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Drina; his parents, Anna Mae and Joseph; his brothers: James, Rodger, Paul, and Danny; and his sister, Shirley. Mary A. Collette age 61 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the Unity Hospital of Grafton, ND. Mary A. Collette was born September 9, 1964 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Antonio and Beverly (Staffne) Collette. She grew up and attended school in Grafton, graduating in 1983. Mary worked as a CAN at the Life Skills and Transition Center for 25 years until her health forced her to retire. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed working word finds, crosswords, and puzzles. She loved to crotchet, listen to country music, especially Alabama, watching old television shows and collecting glass birds. Mary is survived by her siblings: Matthew Collette, Timothy (Pam) Collette and Jeff Collette all of Grafton and Patricia (Jay) Mayer of Grand Forks, one niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Michelle. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, May 23rd at 10:30 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, ND. Lillian Meling, 96, of Langdon, ND, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, May 8, 2026, with her family by her side at Langdon Prairie Health in Langdon, ND. Lillian Thordarson was born April 28, 1930, in Gardar, ND, to Eggert and Thora (Asmundson) Thordarson. She grew up in the Gardar area. On December 31, 1955, Lillian married Harlan Meling in Milton, ND. They lived in Milton then moved to Langdon, ND. In 1949, Lillian worked at the Borg Memorial Home in Mountain, ND, alongside her mother and Aunt Bertha. She later worked for the Milton Public School. Before moving to Osnabrock, Lillian volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center in Langdon, where she truly enjoyed her time and formed many lasting friendships. Lillian especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends and always looked forward to the daily phone calls she received from loved ones. In her spare time, she loved embroidering and collecting special treasures. Among her favorite collections were gnomes and snowmen, each one carefully cherished and proudly displayed. Anyone who had the opportunity to see her collections knew how much joy they brought her. Lillian’s faith, family, and friends were the center of her life. She was known for her warm spirit and her heartfelt hugs. If you were fortunate enough to know Lillian, you were fortunate enough to receive one of her wonderful hugs. Surviving Lillian are her niece, Carol (Tom) Johnson; great-nephew Travis Peterson; great-niece Lisa (Cody) Myer; great-great nephew Miles Myer; as well as several cousins. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, Eggert and Thuridur (Thora) Thordarson; her husband, Harlan Meling, and her brother, Ted Thordarson.
