 Ken B. Ault, 74, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his home near Cavalier. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bathgate Presbyterian Church, Bathgate, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Ken was born December 6, 1947, in Grafton, ND, to Vernon “Jack” and Nevada (Marshall) Ault. He grew up on the family farm near Cavalier, ND, and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1965. After school Ken joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. After his service, he returned home to farm. He worked at Cavalier Implement for 25 years and worked for Wayne Ratchenski Farm until his retirement in 2015. Ken loved being outdoors especially gardening, mowing, hunting, fishing. He also enjoyed bowling. He is survived by his wife, Carol; children; Julie (Kirk) Morrison, Neche, ND; Jamie Ault and Kevin (Laura) Ault, all of Cavalier, ND; Ryan (Erin) Ault, Wallace, ID; grandchildren: Olivia, Veronica, Zachary Ault; Kenrik Morrison; Abby Johnson, Johnny Gregg, and Aiden Ault; sisters: Sherry (Russell) Hannesson and Mary Moore; sisters-in-law: Marilyn (Kevin) Shephard, Linday Storey (Dale Brown); brother-in-law, Jack Carignan; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Jerry and Dwite.

 Eugene Joseph Capp, age 84, resident of Northwood, ND and formerly of Lankin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center.
Eugene was born April 16, 1937 in Vernon Township, near Lankin, the son of Stanley and Anna (Beneda) Capp. He moved to Cleveland Township in 1940 where he attended school. He graduated in 1951 and began farming. His passion was farming and working the cattle with his father, his brother, John Capp and nephews, Steven Sather and Brian Capp. In 2003, he moved to Green Valley, MN to spend his retirement years with the love of his life, Elsie Capp. Eugene enjoyed dancing, listening to old time music and going on trips. He spent his winter months in Texas. He shared a very special relationship with his nephew, Steven Sather who cared for him like a father figure. Eugene will be deeply missed by his brother John Capp, Lankin, ND; sister Joanie Sather, Larimore, ND; special nephew, Steven (Shauna) Sather, Larimore, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elsie Ann and Mary Jane; and brothers, Ronald and Raymond, nephews Bradley Capp and Duane "Skip" Sather, Jr. CELEBRATION OF LIFE: Friday, January 28 at 11 a.m. in the Bakke Funeral Chapel, Larimore. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service. INTERMENT: Quale Church Cemetery, Fordville,  Luella M. Farrow, 98, of Cavalier, ND passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier. Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Luella Hodgson was born March 11, 1923, in rural Cavalier to John and Pearl (Switzer) Hodgson. She attended Cranley rural school and then graduated from Cavalier High School in 1941. After high school, she attended St. Michael’s Nursing School in Grand Forks. Luella served in World War II as a 1st LT Army nurse in the South Pacific from April 2, 1945 – January 24, 1947. Luella married Ray J. Farrow at the Cavalier Baptist Church on October 12, 1947. She worked at Pembina County Memorial Hospital and helped on the family farm. Luella enjoyed quilting, China painting, baking and sewing. She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Luella was also a member of the Silver Haired Legislature, Laverne J Thompson Post #11-Cavalier American Legion, where she served as Commander, Adjutant, and also served on State and District committees. Charter Member of Cavalier Senior Citizens and she was also a North Dakota Barley Queen. Survivors include her children, David (Nola) Farrow of Auburn, WA, Catherine (Wayne) Erie of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jean (Robert) Schroeder of Cavalier, ND; grandchildren: Natasha (Phil) Prather, Nichole (Harry) Whitaker, Adam (Dawn) Erie, Craig (Carrie) Erie, Scott Erie, Kristin (Pat) Kalahar, Jay (Caroline) Schroeder; great-grandchildren: Alexander, Zachary, and Madelyn Prather, Elsie Whitaker, Carson Erie and Hannah Erie, Marieda, Kiera and Brody Kalahar, Fiona Schroeder; sister, Reta Harless. Preceding her in death were her parents, twin daughters, husband Ray, brothers, Harvey and Roy. Luella always shared her love with family and friends. She will be greatly missed.  Mark L. Tibert, 68, of Minto, ND passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022, at his home in Minto. He passed away on the wedding anniversary date of his parents.
Mark Lee Tibert was born on August 25, 1953, in Grand Forks, ND the son of John Budd and Louise (Wosick) Tibert. He was raised on the family farm near Minto and graduated from Minto High School in 1971. Mark married the love of his life, Sue Ellen Votava on December 23, 1983, in Grand Forks. In December, they celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. He farmed with his father and brothers until 1990. After farming, he was employed with Gary Dub Construction, Gowan Construction and M.T. Sales. Mark enjoyed gardening, traveling with Suzi, spending time with family and friends and rummaging. He was always looking for trucks or a new toy to bring home. He was the best uncle who loved to entertain his nieces and nephews. Mark was a kind and generous person. No matter what he was doing, he always made time to help other people with their projects or tasks. He always made things better with his creative ideas, guidance and advice. He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Minto. Mary Ann Lindell, age 92 of Fairdale, ND passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center.
Mary Ann Mielke was born November 15, 1929 near Brownton, MN the daughter of the late Lester and Rose (Luedtke) Mielke. The family moved to Grafton, ND when Mary Ann was five. She grew up and attended school in Grafton, graduating from Grafton High School in 1947. Following her education she worked at her parent’s café “Lil Grand” and later worked at the Grafton National Bank. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Alfred Walter Lindell on December 4, 1949 at Grafton Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Grafton for three years. In the fall of 1955 the couple purchased a farm between Adams and Fairdale. They moved to that farm in the spring of 1956 and have lived there since. On June 4, 2018 Mary Ann moved to the Park River Good Samaritan Center. Mary Ann was a member of the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church and WELCA, the Adams Kraft Klub and the Gideon Society. She loved to sing, sew, cross stitch and tend her flower and rock gardens. Her true love was spending time with her family and would teach a willing child or grandchild a craft. She is survived by her husband Alfred of 72 years, her children: Paige (James) Buckeye, Montpelier, ND; Tamara (John “Buzz”) Lunde, St. Thomas, ND; Suzanne (Garlen) Haroldson, Woodbury, MN; Grant (Sandra) Lindell, Adams, ND; Jana (Allan) Berube, Perham, MN; Tena (Glen) Scharmer, Grafton, ND; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Loren) Kadlec, Grand Forks, ND; 27 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; siblings: Norma (Theodore) Kotyk, Brainerd, MN; Charles (Rita) Mielke, Edinburg, ND; Jon (Carol) Mielke, Bismarck, ND; brother-in-law, Larry Gorder, Olympia, WA. Bjerke, age 81 of Adams, ND passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022 at his home in Adams,
Harlynn Neil Bjerke was born October 12, 1940 in Walsh County, ND the son of the late Herman and Merna (Vigen) Bjerke. He attended schools in Adams and Grafton, graduating from Grafton High School in 1959. He graduated from NDSU with a degree in Business Administration in 1963. Harlynn was enrolled in the Naval Aviation Officers Training School in Pensacola, FL. He received an honorable medical discharge. Harlynn went to work for Kresge Company Managers Training program (K-Mart), where he managed a shopping center in Prior Lake, MN. He later went on to traveling around the country opening K-Mart stores. In the early 1980’s he returned to Adams to help care for his mother. He started selling insurance for Mutual of Omaha and was an active insurance agent until the time of his death. Harlynn was a member of the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was a past commander of the Adams American Legion, served on the NAIFA Insurance Board and was active in the ND Republican party. He was a life member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity at NDSU and was a member of the Rahjah Cheer Squad. Harlynn was an avid Minnesota Twins and NDSU Bison Fan. Harlynn is survived by numerous cousins and special friends, Danny and Sharalyn Koppang. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Friday, January 7, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at West Adams Cemetery in the spring. Memorials are preferred to the Adams American Legion or the West Adams Cemetery Fund.  Linda L. Lage, 72, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary at the church.
Linda Louise Van Ornum was born in 1949, in LaMoure, ND, to Claude and Louise (Lenzen) Van Ornum. She spent her childhood in Berlin, ND, Gackle, ND, and Enderlin, ND. She graduated from Enderlin High School and attended the North Dakota State School of Science. Linda married William (Bill) Lage in 1968 and they have lived in Cavalier, ND ever since. They had 2 children. Linda was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1978. Linda held a variety of secretarial/administrative positions, before finally retiring from Farmers Union Oil Co. in Cavalier. Linda and Bill enjoyed car shows and car cruises together, as well as visits with family and friends. Over the years, her quality of life had deteriorated due to MS and for the last several years, she was mostly homebound. Throughout all the years, her faith remained constant and never wavered. She lived each day as best she was able. Linda will be deeply missed by her husband of 53 years, Bill; children, Bill Lage of Minnetonka, MN, and Melanie (Patrick) Johnson of Bismarck; daughter-in-law Heather Lage, Plymouth, MN; grandchildren, Austin and Megan Lage, and Noah, Mya, Emma, and Eli Johnson; siblings, Clarence Van Ornum, Lakeville, MN, Ruth (Ernie) Jesz, Bismarck, ND, and Ronald (Phyllis) Van Ornum, Augusta, GA; brothers-in-law Leo (Judy) Lage, Cavalier, ND, Roger (Lynn) Lage, Colorado Springs, CO and Ron DeMann, St. Paul, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Peggy L. O’Connell, 82, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022, at her home in Grand Forks.
Peggy Lou Iverson was born on August 3, 1939, in Grafton, ND the daughter of Iver and Pearl (Monson) Iverson. She was raised in Nash, ND and graduated from Grafton High School in 1957. During high school, Peggy was employed as a secretary with Lynn Grimson Law Firm and the North Dakota State Seed Department. Peggy married Thomas John O’Connell on June 14, 1958 (Flag Day) at St, Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND. They lived in Grand Forks until moving to Harvey, ND, Bismarck, ND and Washburn, ND. They returned to Grand Forks in 1989. Peggy was employed as a Librarian at the Chester Fritz Library at the University of North Dakota until her retirement in 2011. Peggy was a member of the Eastern Star and longtime member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed camping with her family, fishing in Canada, playing Pinochle and puzzles. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; her children, Barbara (Steve) Martin, Emerado, ND, Daniel (Barb) O’Connell, Williams, MN, Erin (Kenneth) Dionne, East Grand Forks, MN, Patricia (Austin) McCracken, Davenport, IA and William (Cassie Scheving), Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Nicole O’Connell, Haley Dionne, Rebecca Martin, Joseph (Natalie) Martin, Elijah McCracken, Noah McCracken, Wrigley O’Connell and Hazel O’Connell; brothers-in-law, Donald (Mary) Berntsen and Bill (Anne VanCamp) O’ Connell.
