Evelyn I. Albaugh, age 85 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Jeffry Ingeman, 64, of Kennedy, Minnesota passed away peacefully at his home on Monday morning, August 19, 2019.
Jeffry Allan Ingeman was born January 26, 1955 in Hallock, MN to Roy and Gladys (Bengston) Ingeman.  Jeff grew up on the farm north of Kennedy, was baptized and confirmed at Maria Lutheran Church and attended school in Kennedy, MN.  Jeff was united in marriage on July 10, 1976 to Pamela Taie in Newfolden, MN.  To this unity 3 children were born, sons Chad and Ryan and daughter Jamie. Together, along with his brother Brian, they farmed and owned and operated Ingeman Trucking up until his death. Jeff was a member of Maria Lutheran Church.  Jeff enjoyed farming, trucking, attending UND and Minnesota Wild hockey games, and auction sales. He also enjoyed working on equipment in his shop, being involved in local construction projects and Ranger rides with his special friend, Duke. One of his biggest joys in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren and was very excited to be a grandfather again this winter.
Jeff is survived by his children, Chad (Lindsay) Ingeman of Park Rapids, MN, Ryan (Jacinda) Ingeman, of Grand Forks, ND, and Jamie (Justin)  Osowski of Hallock, MN.  Grandchildren Lucas and Madison Osowski.  Brothers Lyndon of Great Falls, MT, Mark (Becky) of Hallock, MN, Steve (Peggy) Karlstad, MN, and Brian of Kennedy, MN and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, and infant granddaughters Faith and Gracie Ingeman.
Jeff was a hardworking business owner who could strike up a conversation with anyone who would listen. He will be greatly missed by all who loved  him.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy, MN.  Interment will be at the Kennedy  Cemetary.  Visitation will be held in the church one hour before the service.

Ruth J. Bachman, 91, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cavalier Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery. 
     Ruth Jennie (Haraldsen) Bachman was born September 7, 1927 on a homestead near Buffalo, South Dakota to Knut and Jennie Haraldsen.  She graduated from Buffalo High School and attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis.  She married George Bachman on August 9, 1947 and they were married 66 years until George’s passing in February of 2014.  They raised their family and farmed south of Hamilton, North Dakota.
     Ruth was always involved in her church and taught Sunday School for 50 consecutive years. She also taught Bible studies for the residents of the Pioneer Rest Home in Bathgate, ND for many years.  Her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior was the most important thing in her life and sharing that faith with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and others.
     Ruth is survived by her 4 children, Robert (LeAnn) Bachman, Willard, MO, and 3 children, Jason (Natalie) Bachman, Ryan (Kimberly) Bachman, Dawnetta (Travis) Cooper;  Jenny (James) DeMell, Cavalier, ND, and 3 children, Ruth (Jason) Ivesdal, Dale (Jayna) DeMell, Jon (Melissa) DeMell; Linda (Gordon) Werven, Cavalier, ND and 3 children, Justin (Jennifer) Werven, Kristi (Rex) Causey, Shauna (Joel) Sandoz and Carolyn (John Leo) Schmidt, Minneapolis, MN and daughter Kayla (Adam) Prusinski; plus 20 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by sisters Sophie Loftsgaard, Park River, ND, Alice Schaler, Tualatin, OR, and brother Erling Haraldsen, Salem, OR.
     Preceding her in death were 4 brothers, Harald Haraldsen, Leonard Haraldsen, Anton Haraldsen, Kenneth Haraldsen, sister, Esther Steiger, and one great-grandchild, Joshua Ivesdal.

JoAnn C. Horge Dietrich, 77, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier. Visitation will be held for one hour before the time of the service.
I, JoAnn Carol Horge, was born to Ardis (Brevik) and Elmer Horge on June 9, 1942 in Crookston, MN. I moved from Twin Valley to Halstad in 1953. I graduated from Halstad High School in 1960 and graduated from Mayville State Teachers College. I was a second grade teacher in Cavalier, ND for 36 years. I loved all the children and wanted them to love reading, my favorite subject, as much as I loved it. I was honored to receive Teacher of the Year at Cavalier. 
I married Donald Dietrich, a farmer, and we lived in Crystal. We had two children, a son, Jason and a daughter, Josie. 
I׳ve always loved animals. I had a kennel, J-Dee Kennel, and raised Mastiffs, Shelties, Yorkshire Terriers, Burmese Mountain dogs and Boston Terriers. I was especially fond of my Burmese Mountain dogs. We had a pet raccoon, hairless rat and scads of cats. 
I was a little, blonde, precocious girl. Mom and I lived with great grandma, Laura, when my father was in the army. I would sit with her and we would sing. When we had company, the rugs would always get messed up. I would rush after them and straighten the rugs. 
I loved to sing. People told me I have a beautiful voice. In high school I received an award for the highest rating for perfection of performance. I loved to write and my creativity surprised others, and sometimes myself. In college I wrote a story using the names of all the counties in North Dakota. In Cavalier I added a room on to my house for a library. I loved all my books and just being in this room made me happy. 
I had many medical issues during my life that made it difficult for me. I moved to Grand Forks in 2015 to be closer to my dialysis facility. 
I have been told that I am unique, eccentric and a stubborn Norse. I left this world on August 20, 2019. I leave behind my son, Jason (Jackie Nordstrom), Grafton, ND; daughter, Josie (Allan) Gibson, Valley City; grandsons, Carsten Dietrich, Germany, Taylor (Modesta Cabrera) Gibson, Mayville; Justin Gibson, Valley City; great grandchildren, Oakley Gibson and Aubrey Gibson; siblings, Betty Jean (Wally) Oien, Halstad, Karen (Lynn) Johnson, Fargo, Yvonne (Tom) Carlson, Halstad, Wayne (Karen) Horge, Halstad, and Debra (Ty) McGinty, Halstad and many nieces and nephews. 
I was preceded in death by my grandparents, parents and my best friend, Boston Terrier, Muggsy.

Joseph J. Zikmund, 79, passed into eternal life Tuesday, August 20th at the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton, ND, surrounded by his family.
Joseph was born November 22, 1939 at home in Prairie Centre Township, Walsh County to Joseph A. and Lucy (Kouba) Zikmund. Joe attended area schools, graduating from Pisek High School in 1957.  He then joined the Army in 1958, and after serving for one year, went home to farm. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Ann Denault on June 28th, 1962. During their 57 years of marriage, they welcomed 9 children, 44 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.   Joe actively served his community on many boards including: St. Mark’s Catholic Church, FHA, Walsh Water, Walsh County Mutual, Assessor of Eden Township, Deanery IV of the Fargo Diocese, and St. Mark’s Cemetery.  
Joe was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Pisek and the Pisek American Legion Post #208. Joe enjoyed time with his family and friends, attending sporting events, engaging in meaningful conversation, refurbishing gray Ford tractors and his 1949 pickup. 
He is survived by his wife Lorraine, children Keith (Helen), Minto,  Lisa (Kevin) Durkin, Inkster, Kevin (Julie), Park River, Timothy (Jacqi), Pisek,  Joseph (Niki) Aberdeen, SD, Kimberly (Bob) Noel, Moorhead, MN, Roxanne (Brian) Madson, Fargo, Jennifer (Michael) Splonskowski, Glyndon, MN,  Becky (Brian) Streitz, Fargo, his siblings, Marie Greicar, Maurice (Deb) Zikmund, Lucy (Kevin) Fruhwirth, Vicky (Russell) Denault, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Maria Madson, brothers-in-law Ben Greicar, Dennis Konze, and nephews Clair Greicar, Gary Pecka, Stuart Swartz. 
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:30 P.M. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Pisek. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Pisek American Legion Post #208 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at the St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery of Conway.

​Corrine “Connie” Weberg, age 91 of Park River, ND passed away at the Park River Good Samaritan Center on Sunday, August 11, 2019.
Connie was born on December 20, 1927 in Fairdale, ND the daughter of the late George and Ida Latulippe.  She graduated from Fairdale High School in 1946.   April 3, 1949 Connie married Leon Weberg at the Aadalen Lutheran Church, Fairdale, ND.  Leon and Connie lived and farmed near Fairdale.  Connie loved the farm.  She always had a large garden, weed less flowerbeds, and freshly baked goodies for coffee!  She loved staying busy; mowing, gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, mastering the art of hard hanger and her LEFSE!!!
Leon passed away March 29, 2008 but Connie continued to live on the farm and kept it manicured for the next 10 years before deciding it was time to move to the Good Samaritan Center in Park River in June 2018.  She always said she would know when she was ready to leave the farm and when the time came she wanted to go to Good Sam in Park River.
Connie was a member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church of Fairdale.  She was a member of WELCA, the church quilting group, Sons of Norway, Square Dance Clubs, Norwegian Folk Dancers, and of course lots of card playing with friends. Connie’s greatest love was staying busy and visiting with people.
Connie is survived by her and Leon’s three children; Curtiss Weberg of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara (Merle) Langton of Flower Mound, TX, Kenneth (Valerie) Weberg of Walker, MN.  9 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ida Latulippe, her husband, Leon Weberg, Brother, Everett Latulippe, Twin Sister, Bernadine Peterson, Infant Sister, Marjory Jane Latulippe, Brother-In-Law Gene Weberg, Sister-In-Law Lillian Bolton, 2 Granddaughters.
Funeral services will be on Thursday. August 15, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Fairdale, ND.  Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.  Interment will at the Aadalen Lutheran Cemetery of Fairdale.

 

 Barbara A. Ault, 81, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services.
     Barbara Ann was born and raised in California. She was born on September 2, 1937, to Richard and Nettie Nolan. She and her daughter, Mary Noel, came to ND when she married Merle Ault on August 20, 1966. They made their home in Cavalier, running Ault’s Hartz Superette grocery store.
     Barb was the Pembina Country Larger Parish secretary for many years. As a member of the Cavalier Presbyterian Church, she served as a Deacon and as a Member of the Session. Her faith grew and she became a Commissioned Lay Pastor, ministering to many area churches including Cavalier, Walhalla and Milton. She enjoyed time as the Moderator of the Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery. Barb also worked for the United States Government as a year round Census Case Worker. During that time she enjoyed meeting many people. She was a people person, always having a quick smile, and time to visit for everyone.
     Her family was her greatest treasure. She cherished every picture, call, and visit. Barb loved being around her family and listening to their stories and laughter. There was nothing she would not do for them and she was quick to show her love.
     Barb is survived by her husband, Merle Ault, their daughter, Noel, and son-in-law, Daryl Watson, all of Cavalier. Her grandsons, their wives, and her great-granddaughters are Nick and Becky Watson- Rylee and Reegan, Joe Watson- Adrianna, Amaya, and Meelah, all of Grand Forks. Jordan and Natasha Watson- Ellie, of Cavalier; Barb’s loving siblings are Richard and Sharon Nolan, Dennis Nolan, of AZ, and Bill and Mary Nolan Winkler, of NM.
     She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Nettie Nolan, great-grandson Conner Alexander Watson, and sister-in-law Pam Nolan.

Ron Steinke, 75, of Cavalier, ND passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019 at his home. Funeral service will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. masonic service at the church. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Mayo Cancer Research, Rochester, MN or Altru Hospice, Cavalier, ND.
     Ronald James Steinke was born April 6, 1944, at Altona, Manitoba to Paul and Margaret (Rose) Steinke. He grew up in the Backoo area and attended the Leyden country school and then graduated from Cavalier High School. After receiving his degree in education from Mayville State University he taught school at the Grand Forks Air Force Base for 11 years. He then returned to the Backoo area where he farmed.
     Ron was active in several community activities which included serving on the boards of the: United Lutheran Church, Cavalier School, Red River Valley Sugar Beet Association, Cavalier Farmers Union Elevator, and Polar Communications. He was also a member of the Tongue River Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Kem Temple Shrine.
     On June 18, 1977, he married Judy Austfjord Fladeland at Cavalier. He is survived by his wife, Judy; children: Mary (Jim) Gaulke, Minneapolis, MN, Camie Thompson, Chanhassen, MN, Janine (Kevin) Norton, San Antonio, TX, Mark Steinke (Janelle Brandl), and John Steinke, all of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Katie and Emma Gaulke; Sophia and Blake Thompson; Kyle (Lindsey) Norton; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Norton. Also surviving him are his siblings: Jim (Darlyn) Steinke, Warren Steinke, Donna (Herb) Hillman, Richard Steinke, and Ruth Webster.
     Preceding him in death were his parents.

Lila K. Mielke, age 88 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.                                                                                                         
Lila K. Kaldor was born April 23, 1931 in Hillsboro, ND, the daughter of the late Orphey and Helen (Ydstie) Kaldor. She attended area schools, graduating from Crystal High School. In 1961she opened the Walsh County Credit Bureau and she was united in marriage to Marvin Mielke on December 22, 1962 at Grafton Lutheran Church. In 1988, she opened North Valley Collections where she worked until her retirement in March of 1995.
She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Walsh County Health Board and Walsh County Housing Board. She was Past President of the Credit Bureau of North Dakota and the Collection Bureau of North Dakota. She served on the Grafton School Board for 18 years, the Walsh County Commission for 12 years and as the Executive Secretary of Grafton United Givers for 36 years.  She taught Sunday school for 27 years and was named Grafton’s Citizen of the Year in 1982.
Lila is survived by her husband Marvin, Grafton, ND, children: Scott Mielke, Phoenix, AZ and Barbara (Keith) Janzen, Cleveland, OH, 5 grandchildren, sister Lois (Larry) Gangnes, Argusville, ND, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Shirley Hoesel, Howard Kaldor and Hazelle Haibek, and nephews: Gray Lindell and Brent Gangnes.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Grafton Lutheran Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
