 Marcella M. “Sally” O’Hara, age 90 of Grafton, ND and formerly of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Marcella “Sally” Dumas was born December 21, 1930 in Walhalla, ND to the late Albert and Lorene (Schwartz) Dumas. She was raised and attended school in Walhalla. Sally was one of eleven children. After her education, she married Thomas Ford O’Hara. They begin traveling between Hamilton, ND and Oregon, until 1966 when they settled in St. Thomas. Sally began working for Kennelly Potato Warehouse where she worked for the next 20 years. Sally loved to try her luck at the casinos, in her retirement. She enjoyed being outside and tending to her yard. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Sally is survived by her children: Thomas O’Hara, Jr., Oregon, Shirley Summers, Grafton, Betty (Dennis) Skogstad, Grand Forks, ND, and Sherry (Rodney) Latraille, Gwinner, ND; 27 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons: Bobby and Richard Lee, and grandchildren: Adam, Peyton, and Tommy. Per Sally’s request, there will not be a public service. A private family burial will take place at Hamilton Cemetery of Hamilton in the spring.

 Marcell “Mar” Stanley Flicek, age 93 of Bismarck, ND (formerly of Grafton, ND) passed away peacefully on March 30, 2021 in Bismarck.
Marcell was born June 14, 1927, the son of Jerry J and Louise (Tupa) Flicek of Mahnomen, MN. Marcell attended school in Mahnomen. His senior year he attended Crookston Agriculture College in Crookston, MN for the Advanced Agriculture Science and Surveying Program. After graduating from Crookston, he was employed by the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) in Mahnomen. He also continued to work on the family farm. In 1950 he was drafted into the US Marine Corp, due to the illness of his father he was called home to work the family farm. In 1957, Marcell bought a house in Mahnomen for himself and his mother. He met Marlene Korynta in 1958 and they were married in Ardoch, ND on August 26, 1959. After marriage they lived in Mahnomen and later moved out to the farm in Mahnomen. In June of 1960 Mitsy was born. In July of 1961 they moved to Grafton, ND where Marcell got a job with the SCS developing the Three River Drainage Project. They were blessed with four more wonderful children: Joy, Todd, Becky, and Doug. Marcell was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and was an usher and worked with the DDP program for many years. He had a deep devoted love for his Catholic faith and attended mass faithfully. Easter was his favorite holiday and for many years he attended daily mass during Lent. He retired as a federal employee from the SCS on June 3, 1988. He continued working for the Walsh County Three Rivers SCS District for another 10 years, before retiring a second time in 1999 at the age of 72. Marcell received an award in 1999 for planting the most trees in the state of North Dakota. Marcell became known as the “TREE MAN”. In 2015, Marcell and Marlene moved to Bismarck, ND, residing at Marillac Manor an independent living facility. Marcell spoke fluent Bohemian, enjoyed his saxophone, playing cards, going to his kids’ sporting events, visiting with family and friends, and enjoying a good cup of coffee. Most of all he treasured time with his wife and family. Marcell is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marlene, Joy (Allen) Zidon, Pisek, ND, Todd (Amy) Flicek, Bismarck, ND, Becky (Tim) Paul, Bismarck, ND, Doug Flicek, Fargo, ND along with eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Valerian, sister Clare Offerdahl, daughter-in-law Cindy (Wegscheid) Flicek and daughter Mitsy Knoll. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, ND. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Grafton, ND. Social Distancing and face masks will be encouraged. The service will be live streamed on the Tollefson Funeral Home Inc. facebook page.  Torin Robert Heidt, 25, of St. Thomas, ND passed away on March 29th, 2021.
Torin was born Dec 21st, 1995 to Robert Heidt and Trina Iverson in Fargo, ND. As a child he moved to Grafton, ND where he graduated High School and went on to complete his mechanical engineering degree from UND. Torin worked for Harriston Industries in Minto, ND as an engineer. Torin was a devoted son and brother. He enjoyed family most of all, but lived for kayaking, biking, and the outdoors, completing one of his ultimate goals of trekking through MT, CO, WA and the West Coast on an unforgettable adventure this past summer. Torin was the sweetest soul who gave a piece of himself to everyone he came in contact with. Torin will be remembered always for his contagious laughter, “dad jokes”, his huge heart, being an avid reader, and his infamous beard. Torin is survived by his father Robert(Patricia) Heidt of Grafton ND; mother Trina Iverson of Fargo, ND; and his 9 siblings Aidan, Rylan(Eli) Hartje, Jameson, Vivienne, Garen, Gentian, Alyssa, Julia, and Luke. He was the best son and brother anyone could ever ask for. Torin was also survived by his grandparents Jim and Susie Heidt of Arena, ND; Roberta Heller of Cavalier, ND; and Carol Rerick of Grand Forks, ND as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Torin was preceded in death by one of his best buddies and grandfather, Monty Heller. In lieu of services, the family is respecting his wishes to be cremated and given back to the earth amongst the places he cherished most. An open gathering will be held at a later date. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the National Parks Foundation in Torin’s name. The Tollefson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Donna Lou Sieler, 88, of West Fargo, ND and formerly of Egeland, ND passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the age of 88 surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Cando Assembly of God Church in Cando with Rev. Michael Rohrer officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a 4:00 PM Family Service at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will take place at the Union Cemetery in Egeland, ND at 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Casket Bearers will be Jeremy Rinas, Tyson Sieler, Ryan Tjaden, Jesse Jacobson, Jim Julsrud and Peter Forward. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Donna Lou’s Great-Grandchildren. Donna Lou was born the 1st daughter to Charles and Bernice (Hall) Rance on January 24th, 1933 in Egeland, ND. She attended primary and secondary school in Egeland, ND. Following graduation, she attended Lakewood Park Bible College in Devils Lake, ND and worked at Coast to Coast. At Lakewood, she met the love of her life, Herbert Sieler. Herbert and Donna Lou were married October 3, 1953 and had 3 children – Lewellyn, Gaylon, and Connie. Their first year of marriage they lived in Billings, MT then in 1955 moved to Egeland, ND where they farmed until 1978. While raising her 3 children and working on the farm Donna Lou also worked at the Egeland School. After farming for 23 years they took 2 years to travel in their motorhome until settling down in Chula Vista, CA in 1980. Donna Lou mostly enjoyed caring for her grandchildren but also served as a caretaker for the elderly in their homes. Upon retirement, they enjoyed traveling and bought a home in West Fargo where they lived until 2015. They then moved to Edgewood Vista in Fargo where she continued to reside until moving to KinderCare in West Fargo in November of 2020 where she resided until her death. Donna Lou was the personification of strength. Strength of character, strength of spirit, and strength of faith. Her unwavering love and devotion to her husband and family were awe inspiring. Her faith was evident in her daily actions. She was truly the heart and soul of the Sieler Family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Herbert Sieler; her parents, Charles and Bernice Rance; brother, Laverne Rance; brother, Eldon Rance; and grandson, Michael Sieler. She is survived by her 3 children Lewellyn (Gerry) Sieler (Fargo, ND), Gaylon (Susie) Sieler (Cando, ND), Connie (Keith) Rinas (West Fargo, ND), her brother Alver (Linda) Rance (Springfield, MO), her sister Doreen (Dan) Scovill (Lorida, FL), 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild, and dear family friend and caregiver Lee Uong.  Bruce D. Kjelaas, 69, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Bruce was born December 14, 1951, in Walsh County, ND, the son of Vincent & Ione (Rundhaug) Kjelaas. He grew up in Adams, ND, and graduated from Adams High School in 1969. After high school Bruce lived in Crookston and Grand Forks, working different jobs. He married Martha Bauer in Mentor and together they raised one child, Kristina Norberg. He later married Renee Plante in Grand Forks on June of 1990. They made their home in Grand Forks. Bruce worked 25.5 years for the ND-DOT as an equipment operator, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, driving the country-side, and being adventurous by scaring people with his all-terrain expeditions. Bruce is survived by his wife, Renee of Grand Forks; daughter, Kristina Norberg of Fosston, MN; step-children, Ben (Jamie) Maygra of Grand Forks, ND, Megan Maygra of La Center, WA; grandchildren, Kaydn, Karlie, and Jossilyn Norberg; step-grandchildren, Hannah, Brady, Bryson Maygra and sister, Vickie Mahnke of Grand Forks; mother-in-law, Cecilia Plante of Crookston, MN and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Dennis Plante and brother-in-law Harold (Bud) Mahnke. Stremick, 87, of Walhalla, ND, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 23rd from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Faith in Action or the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla.
Philip was born near Langdon, ND on April 28, 1933 to Philip J. and Emma Stremick. The family later moved to a farm south of Walhalla where Philip attended Eastern Star School No. 2 District 99. In 1953, he enlisted in the Army and after his discharge, he returned to Walhalla and married Myrna (Tetrault) on September 22, 1956. He founded Philip Stremick Construction building many roads and dams throughout North Dakota, including stretches of U.S. Highway 2 and U.S. Highway 83 and Fordville, Larimore, and McDowell Dams. Philip farmed with his sons and grandsons until retiring in 2020. Phillip is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Myrna, children Steven Stremick of Fargo, ND, Michael (Kathy) Stremick of Walhalla, Shelly (Steve) Fillipi of Aurora, CO, Lori (Rick) Sorensen of Prior Lake, MN, Paul Stremick of Walhalla, Jeffrey (Lisa) Stremick of Fargo, ND, Mark (Mollie) Stremick of Walhalla, Cari (Tod) Worner of Plymouth, MN, grandchildren Christopher (Kristi) and Emily Stremick (Fred Kooser), Austin and Sydney Fillipi, Haley and Kylie Sorensen, Jackson and Collin Stremick, Ethan, Gracie and Marlie Stremick, Annabel and Vivian Worner, great-grandchildren Parker Stremick, Brody Berg and Elena Martinez, brothers Ed (Marlene), Bill (Marlene), Dan (Vera) and sister Anna Werven. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Matthew, sisters Mildred, Mercedes, Amelda and Evelyn. Philip was known by everyone as a man of quiet integrity and profound devotion to his family and his farm. For years he worked tirelessly from dawn to dusk with his sons and grandsons operating a thriving family farm. Philip was a masterful storyteller whose tales will live on and grow richer through their retelling by his children and grandchildren. Philip was an avid hunter known for his ability to see the smallest of creatures from the farthest distance. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and The American Legion and inspired others with a simple faith shown by actions more than words. In his later years, Philip could light up the room simply with his deep blue eyes and kind grin.  Herb Vosper, age 96, of Neche, ND died on Monday, March 15th at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Herbert Paul Vosper was born October 6th, 1924 to Roy and Ruth Vosper. He grew up and attended school in Neche, and then served two years in the military (Merchant Marines). On May 6, 1947, Herb married Ramona Symington in Hallock, MN. He farmed in the Neche area for many years with his beloved brother Wes. Herb also had a Rupp dealership and sold snowmobiles, motorcycles, mini-bikes and go-carts. He was active in the community with him being on the Neche Fire Department and also serving as fire chief. Herb also was the mayor of Neche for several years.
When he retired in the early 1990s, Herb continued to stay busy restoring antique tractors (usually red) and then entering them in numerous parades and events around the area. One of his greatest joys during his later years was to have his family and friends drive his beautiful tractors in a local parade or celebration. His favorite celebration was the Pioneer Machinery Show that is held near Cavalier, ND where he won many “best of show” trophies for his tractors. During his last days on this earth, Herb stayed true to himself with him loving visits from his family and friends, drinking lots of Pepsi and also joking with the nurses that were taking care of him. Herb is survived by his children: DeNae (Jeff) Strand, Princeton, MN; JoNell (Bob) Hinnenkamp, Harwood, ND; Cindy (Greg) McColl-Hughes, Grand Forks, ND; Brenda (Darwin) Vosper-Johnson, Waterloo, IA and Scott Vosper, Nisswa, MN. He also is survived by two of his siblings: June Hanson and Ruth Gulbrandson, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Herb’s grandchildren and step grandchildren include: Aaron McColl, Katie McColl, Terry Hinnenkamp, Chris Hinnenkamp, Rob Hinnenkamp, Amy Strand, Sara Nelson, Brittany Horn and Jared Hughes. His blessings also included many great grandchildren: Adrianna, Amaya, Meelah, Scotty, Aspen, Joslyn, Jarrett, Elin and Callen. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, wife-Ramona Vosper, son-Terry Vosper, brother-Wes Vosper, sister-Doreen Taber, grandson-Aaron McColl and son in law-Scott McColl. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bathgate Presbyterian Church, Bathgate, ND. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 24th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Masks are recommended. Robbins, 80, of Cavalier, ND passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church, Cavalier, ND. Masks and social distancing will be required.
Joan was born October 4, 1940, at Great Falls, Montana to Vatis and Vera (Aijala) Page. She grew up in Grand Forks where she graduated from Central High School. Joan then attended the University of North Dakota and then married William Robbins. They moved to Tucson, AZ, where she graduated from the University of Arizona. After moving to Minneapolis, she taught school in Edina and after moving to Cavalier taught at Hamilton and Neche, ND. In 1990, Joan moved to California where she substitute taught and later moved back to Cavalier where she taught Adult Education at the Cavalier Air Force Station. She is survived by her sons, Charles (Lori) Robbins, Cavalier, ND and Scott Robbins, Hoople, ND; grandsons: Brady (Bailey), Spencer, and Brock Robbins, and Michael Robbins, and her sister, Sue Birilli, Sun City Roseville, CA. Preceding her in death were her parents.  Judith A. “Judy” Mattson, age 69 of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Unity Medical Center of Grafton.
Judy Lorenzen was born October 3, 1951 in Drayton, ND. She was raised by her grandparents, Clyde and Elizabeth Lorenzen and grew up and attended school in St. Thomas, ND. Judy was united in marriage to Terry Mattson on Dec. 26, 1970 in St. Thomas. The couple made their home in St. Thomas where she worked for Gilleshammer Farms. She later operated a daycare in her home. Judy retired from the Life Skills and Transition Center after 25 years of service. She also tended bar in St. Thomas for 20 years. She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church and Altar Society. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and like spending time in her garden. Judy is survived by her husband, Terry, St. Thomas, ND; her sons: Andy (Anna Martinez) and Matthew both of St. Thomas, ND; her grandson Mason; sisters: Jane (Herman) Barta and Mary (George “Buzz”) Burns, both of St. Thomas, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her daughter Tracey; son Terry Jr; biological mother, Della Osterdyk, grandparents and 11 brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Social distancing and face masks are required. Interment will be at Landstad Cemetery, Auburn, ND in the spring.  Orval L. Reichert, 90, of Hensel, ND passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving children. A private funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural St. Thomas, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, A webcast of the service will be on the funeral home website on Wednesday afternoon.
Orval Lavern Reichert was born September 26, 1930, in Grafton, ND to George and Louise (Hartje) Reichert. He was one of fourteen children in that family. He married Phyllis Jean Wells July 23, 1955 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, ND. Orval was a lifelong farmer near Hensel, ND. He took over the farm at the age of only 13 years old after his father had a heart attack. Orval very much enjoyed farming, taking care of the farmyard and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Surviving Orval are his children: Ann (Neal) Martin, Grand Forks, ND, Karen (Robert) McLeod-Cataldi, West Fargo, ND, Terry (Teresa) Reichert, Hensel, ND, Kristy (Jon) Dornacker, Garrison, ND; grandchildren: Karl Martin, Hurst, TX, George Martin, Duluth, MN, Mitchell (Eden) McLeod, McClusky, ND, Kelsie (Eric) Laufenberg, West Fargo, ND, Alex Dornacker, Bismarck, ND; Cassie Dornacker, Fargo, ND, Erik (Casey) Zimmeht, Ottumwa, IA; great grandchildren: Parker, Anabelle and Olivia Martin, Hurst, TX, Wyatt and Josie McLeod, McClusky, ND, Addley and Camden Laufenberg, Fargo, ND, Rece, Elliott, and Sailor Zimmeht, Ottumwa, IA.
