Thomas J Hermann

​Thomas Joseph Hermann was born October 9, 1961 to Andrew and Rose (Brunelle) Hermann in Georgetown, MN.  Tom was committed to helping their family farm while he was growing up.  This continued throughout his life, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Tom graduated from Moorhead High School in 1980.  After graduation he went to Moorhead Tech for 2 years, then decided to go to NDSU where he graduated with and agricultural degree.  Following his graduation he moved North and took a job with American Crystal Sugar.  Tom loved working with sugar beets and all of his coworkers and growers.  After working for 30 years with Crystal Sugar he retired in 2020.
Tom was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church and was very active with the St. Thomas Fire Department.  He was well known for his cooking and great sense of humor.  Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking for his daughter, granddaughter, or any other family and friends.  Tom also loved holding and talking about his new granddaughter Maizy.
Tom passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks at the age of 61.  Although Tom’s time here on earth was not nearly long enough, our lives are richer and more blessed because he shared his love and friendship with all.
Tom is survived by his daughter Janessa (Wade) Halvorson, Oakwood, ND; granddaughter Maizy Halvorson; his beloved granddog Izzy; siblings: Jerome (Linda) Hermann, Michael (Sheila) Hermann, Charlie (Sherry) Hermann, Bill (Mary) Hermann, Richard (Lisa) Hermann, Mary (Ernest) Normandin, Barb (Mark) Thompson, Patricia Audette, Jean (Deon) Walton; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Rose Hermann; sisters: Rosie Hermann and Karen Hermann; brother-in-laws: Bernard Audette and Rick Thomas; and a few nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, ND.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
