![]() Rossford O. Johnson, age 87 of Park River, ND, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the Aneta Parkview Health Center of Aneta, ND. Rossford Johnson was born May 8, 1933 in Park River, ND, the son of the late Melvin “M.O.” and Florence (Gates) Johnson. He grew up in Park River and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Johnson in December of 1950, and later attended college in Fargo. Following his graduation, he returned to Park River to farm with his father and established Potato Sales, Inc. During his career, Rossford also developed the first 12-row potato planter. Rossford earned his pilots license and enjoyed checking crops and flying to Fargo to watch NDSU football. He enjoyed Bison athletics, traveling, brass band music, and a good meal. He retired from farming in 2003 but could often be seen driving a red Suburban co-piloted by a black lab named Bison. He moved into the Good Samaritan Center in Larimore in 2016, and later the Aneta Parkview Health Center in 2017. He attended Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River. He is survived by his children: Dorothy (William) Farrell, Larimore, ND, Jeanette (William) Larson, Park River, ND, Russell (Barbara) Johnson, Park River, ND, and Linnae (Jonathan) Norberg, Clear Lake, MN; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, and grandson Don Greff. A private family service will be held at a later date with inurnment at the Memorial Park Cemetery of Park River.
