Rodger D. Carlson, age 79 of Park River, ND, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the Sanford Hospital of Fargo. Rodger Carlson was born May 20, 1941 in Maddock, ND, the son of the late Edward and Emma (Hjelden) Carlson. He grew up and attended school in Maddock. Following his education, he began trucking. He later moved to Montana where he worked for Farmer’s Union, Conoco and the Ford Garage. He was united in marriage to Dianne Aabrekke on August 6, 1963 in Wolf Point, MT. The couple moved to Maddock, ND in 1981 where he farmed with his nephew and brother-in-law. They moved to Park River in 1985 and he began working for Heritage Ford and Glen Porter until his health forced him to retire in 1993. He was a member of the North Viking Lutheran Church of Maddock. He enjoyed hunting and working on cars. Rodger is survived by his wife Dianne, Park River, ND, daughters: Cindee (Lino) Hernandez, Bancroft, WI and Carol Hagen, Forest River, ND; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David in 2003, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery of Park River in the spring.
