Robert Paul Novak

Robert Paul Novak, age 56, of Grand Forks, passed away Monday, December 27th, 2021 in his home at Valley Senior Living Center.
Robert Paul Novak was born April 2, 1965, in Grafton, ND.  He was the son of the late Vivian Novak, and Elaine Novak of Grafton, ND.  He attended school in Grafton and received his GED.  After high school, Robert enlisted in the Army National Guard. Later he was discharged from service after suffering with numerous physical and mental health issues. Robert enjoyed working and took pride in the various jobs he had over the years.  Due to his physical and mental health issues, Robert struggled over the years and was limited in his ability to fully enjoy life.

Robert loved watching sports of all kinds, especially football and hockey.  His absolute favorite team was the Miami Dolphins.  Robert also loved listening to music of all kinds and watching movies.  He enjoyed playing cards and was also a pretty good basketball player in his day. Robert liked to make jokes and have fun.

Robert is survived by his mother, Elaine Novak, (Grafton), brother, Michael (Maureen) Novak of Crookston, MN, sister, Carol Mikkelsen (Kent) of Langdon, brother, Gerald Novak, of Grafton, and Mark (Erika) Novak of Maple Grove, MN.  He was preceded in death by his father, Vivian Novak.
Robert was very proud of his nieces and nephews. Robert also had many extended family members and friends along with the amazing support services that he has received over the years. Robert’s family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for all the doctors, nurses and care coordinators at Altru Hospital and Valley Senior Living Center that made Robert’s life better over the years with their wonderful and tireless support and love. Words cannot express our gratitude.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton, ND.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, in the spring.
