Richard O. Staffne

Richard O. Staffne, age 95 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Richard Oscar Staffne was born March 26, 1924 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Oscar and Annie (Hanson) Staffne. He grew up and attended school in Grafton. Following his education he served in the United States Army, serving in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was discharged in 1946. He was united in marriage to Rita Kartes. In March of 1948 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until 1952. Upon his discharge he returned to Grafton and worked at the Anderson Gas Station. Richard started working for the Grafton Electrical Department and worked there until retiring in 1989.

He was a Life Member of the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department, serving for 45 years.

Richard is survived by his wife, Rita of Grafton, ND; daughter-in-law, Cathy Staffne, Grafton, ND; six grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and two great great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, children: Margaret Bodell and Michael Staffne; his siblings: Richard Oscar, Delores Bates, Donald Staffne, Michael R. Staffne and Beverly Collette.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Grafton Lutheran Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post and the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Grafton, ND.
