Paul Claire Campbell Sr.

Paul Claire Campbell Sr., 67, of Cando, ND, formerly of Egeland, ND passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Towner County Living Center in Cando. A celebration of life service will be held at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. A visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. The burial will be at the Union Cemetery in Egeland, ND.

Paul was born on February 16, 1953 in Cando, ND to Cecil “Swede” & Paula (Rotter) Campbell. Paul was raised on a farm in rural Egeland where he also attended school. Paul was united in marriage to Connie Hunt on January 23, 1971, to that union 2 children Carolee and Paul Jr were born. They travelled to the State of Oregon where Paul worked in the sawmill industry for a few years before returning back to North Dakota. Paul and Connie later separated. After returning to North Dakota Paul continued to live and work in the Cando/Egeland area for local farmers. Paul also worked for construction companies building elevators across the state of North Dakota and also would go south for wheat harvest. Paul entered the Towner County Living Center in July of 2011, from there he went to the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND for a few years before returning to the Towner County Living center where he resided until his passing.
Paul was an avid “talker”.  He had many stories to tell of his adventures through life. Many of which left you wondering “what were you thinking, are you serious and how are you still alive?” He always had a joke to share, sometimes over, and over and over! But he thought it was just as funny as the first time.
Paul loved farming & playing cards. Paul hated losing therefore he was never allowed to keep score for obvious reasons. Paul also enjoyed being a grandpa.
Paul is survived by his children: Carolee (Daryl) Vote of Egeland, Paul (Becky) Campbell of Williston, ND; grandchildren: Alayna, Hunter, Krista, Michael, Shelby, Skylar, and Keaton; brothers: Donald (Sue) Campbell of Bordulac, ND, Jim (Leatha) Campbell of Minot, ND, and Michael Campbell of Suisun City, CA. Nieces: Ashley (Campbell) Pister, Jennifer Campbell, and Julie Matthews; Nephews: Chris Campbell & Jeff Matthews
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Caroline Matthews; sister-in-law: Leah Campbell; nephew: Donald James (DJ) Campbell; Connie (Hunt) Warbitsky, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
