Mark W. Holt

Mark W. Holt, age 86 of Grafton, ND and formerly of Hoople, ND passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at his home in Grafton.


Mark W. Holt was born August 19, 1937 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Theodore and Cora (Brandt) Holt. He attended rural school at the Gryte school, graduated from Hoople High School and attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND.  Mark served in the North Dakota National Guard from 1958-1963.  Following his education he married Judy Haug on August 16, 1960 in Grafton. The couple made their home in Hoople where he was in the pork producing business. The couple moved back to Grafton in 1990. 


He was a member of the North Dakota Pork Council where he served as President. He was a Master Pork Producer and a Pork All-American. He served on the Hoople Volunteer Fire Department and the Hoople American Legion Post #240. He was a current member of Grafton Lutheran Church. 


Mark is survived by his wife, Judy of Grafton, ND; his children: Debra (Mike) Lewis, Edinburg, ND; Dan (Terri) Holt, Hoople, ND; David (Teri) Holt, Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren: Chelsey (Cody) Waslaski, Alex Holt, Jaeden Holt, Brandon Holt, Rylan Holt; his great grandchildren: Callum, Ceeley and Colter Waslaski; his sister, Helen Quam, Mound, MN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Clinton, Robert and twin brother, Marvin.


Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Hoople City Cemetery, Hoople, ND.  Military rites will be provided  by the Hoople American Legion and North  Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the Hoople Volunteer Fire Dept or the Hoople City Cemetery.
