Marian P. Mayer

Marian P. Mayer, age 84, resident of Grand Forks, ND, died Friday, October 14, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Marian Pamela Hodny was born June 24, 1938 on the family farm in Perth Township of Walsh County, near Lankin, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Drtina) Hodny.  She attended the Perth Country School and graduated from Park River High School.  She then worked for a time at St. Ansgar’s Hospital in Park River.  Marian married Gordon Mayer on June 15, 1960 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Bechyne.  They farmed in Perth Township, raising cattle, dairy cows, and small grains until Gordon died in 1992.  Marian then moved to Grand Forks and held various jobs until her retirement.  While there she was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Marian will be missed by her 4 children, Chuck (Kari) Mayer of Clitherall, MN, John (Madonna) Mayer of Moorhead, MN, Gordon (Candy) Mayer of Shakopee, MN, and Cheryl (Darin) Johnson of Halstad, MN; 7 grandchildren, Heather, Christine, Cole, Emily, Sarah, Daniel, and David; 7 great grandchildren, Nadacia, Damon, Lauren, Amber, Brantley, Hayden, Casen, and one miracle on the way; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; 1 brother, Leonard Hodny; and 2 sisters, Angeline Kachena and Delores Novak.
The Funeral Mass will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Bechyne, rural Lankin, ND, on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
