Laura Joy Zelewski, age 43 of Grafton, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019. Laura was born March 3, 1976 in Grafton North Dakota, the daughter of the late Dennis and Carol (Olson) Zelewski. She attended school in Grafton, graduating in 1994. She was employed with the Grafton School District and JR’s Bar in Oakwood, ND. She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church. Laura was married for 18 years to Chad Satterlund. They brought into the world two wonderful sons, Tucker and Cooper. She loved her boys beyond measure. Her life was full of continuous smiles with a zest for making others happy. She was, without question, the kindest of souls, generous, loving, strong, caring, and a dear friend to so many. Laura’s middle name, “Joy” is the best way to describe who she was and how she made others feel. Laura was incredibly creative, designing memory scrapbooks for her family and friends, making cakes for special occasions, baking all kinds of treats - especially her famous pumpkin rolls. She enjoyed traveling, auctions, antiquing, playing board games and puzzles, and especially watching her boys participate in the sports and activities they love. Laura deeply cherished her work-families at JR’s and the Grafton School and adored the students Laura is survived by her beautiful children, Tucker and Cooper Satterlund; sister, Tami Zelewski; former husband, Chad Satterlund; her sweetheart and best friend, Jim Olafson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all who will forever miss her sweet face and glorious smile. She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Zelewski; mother, Carol (Olson) Zelewski, grandparents, John and Helen Zelewski, Vernon and Pearl Olson; aunt Julianne Frisco, uncle Kenneth Olson. A visitation and memorial service will be held at the Grafton Armory, October 3, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. respectively, followed by a burial at Grafton Lutheran Cemetery and then a gathering of Laura’s many friends and family at JR’s in Oakwood, ND. Gifts in memoriam can be sent to Tollefson Funeral Home in Grafton, ND. Special Note: In honor of Laura’s creative spirit, the family invites friends and family to bring a printed photo of you with Laura to be included in a special scrapbook that will be prepared for her family in lieu of a typical guest book. You may add your name and a memory on the back of the photo if you wish. A table will be available at the visitation to receive photos and messages.
