![]() Isabel Margaret (Izzy) Collette, age 93, died after Christmas Mass on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at the Lutheran Sunset Home. Isabel was born May 2, 1926 to Alcidas and Margaret (Krier) Corriveau, at Oakwood, ND. She was educated at and graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in Oakwood. On September 8, 1948 she was married to Maurice D. (MD) Collette at Sacred Heart Church, Oakwood. They were lifelong sweethearts and were married 71 years at the time of her death. They were lifelong members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1953 MD and Isabel adopted a daughter, Bonnie Bea. A son, Donald David was adopted in 1956. Isabel was a hard-working farm wife and homemaker. She also had several part-time positions at Grafton businesses. She enjoyed golf, curling, gardening and entertaining family and friends. She was a member of the Oakwood Homemakers Club and Sacred Heart Altar Society. She volunteered at the Lutheran Sunset Home and St. Aloysius Academy where Bonnie and Donald attended school. The couple retired from farming in 1991. In 2015 they moved to an apartment at Leisure Estates in Grafton and subsequently into the nursing home. Isabel is survived by her husband, Maurice D. Collette, her children: Bonnie Kavanaugh (Jim Field), Fargo, ND; Donald (Karen) Collette, Hanceville, AL; two granddaughters: Jaime (Layne) Donovan, Virginia Beach, VA; Amanda (Frankie) Dyer, Centre, AL and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Norbert Corriveau; grandson, Nicholas Collette and son-in-law, Tom Kavanaugh, Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Oakwood, ND in the spring. Memorials are preferred to the North Dakota School for the Blind, Adult Services Program 500 Stanford Road #A, Grand Forks, ND 58203. The family extends their thanks to the staff and Leisure Estates and Lutheran Sunset Home for the excellent care they provided to Isabel. She always said, “They take good care of us here.”
