Greg J. Rose, age 66 of Grafton, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Greg J. Rose was born July 29, 1957 in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of the late Joe and Marjorie (Ganyo) Rose. He grew up and attended school in Grafton. After his schooling he began bagging groceries at the Piggly Wiggly in Grafton and later learned how to cut meat. He continued working as a meat cutter for Walt’s Jack and Jill, Denny’s Jack and Jill and Gillespie’s Meat Market, later changing to McGregor’s Meat Market. Greg was united in marriage to Sandra Welsh on July 16, 1977 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Grafton. The couple made their home in Grafton and raised their son Tim. At the age of 29, Greg’s health forced him to retire from McGregor’s Meat Market. Greg then became a stay-at-home dad where he loved taking care of Tim and creating many wonderful memories with him. On November 3, 2005 Greg moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home. He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Greg loved to spend time with his family. He loved to ride bike with Tim, cruising around town and looking at cars. He depended on his computer for everything, especially crossword puzzles and reading. Greg is survived by his wife, Sandy Rose, Grafton, ND; his son, Tim Rose; his siblings: Connie (Gary) Knapp, Cadillac, MI; Cordell Rose, Grafton, ND; Mark Rose, Redwood Falls, MN; C.J. (Ellen) Rose, East Grand Forks, MN; Lorraine (Robert) Warwas, Fredric, WI; his in-laws: Sheila Hrabik, Grand Forks, ND; Warren (Cindy) Welsh, Charleston, SC; Debbie (Bob) Livingood, Grafton, ND; Becky (Vern) Schnellbach, Grafton, ND; Tammy Feltus, Grand Forks, ND; Wayne Welsh, Grafton, ND; Connie (Stefan) Linstad, Park River, ND; Stacy (Roben) Trosen, Cavalier, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
