Francis G. Eide, age 89 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Francis Eide was born September 19, 1932 in Crystal, ND, the son of the late Melvin and Bessie (Nelson) Eide. He grew up and attended school in the Crystal area. He served in the US Army from 1951-1954 during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge he returned to St. Thomas, ND and began working for Landrigan farms. He was united in marriage to Alice Burger on September 8, 1955 in Cavalier, ND. They made their home in St. Thomas where they raised their children. The couple later moved to rural Auburn and he worked for Kingsbury farms and Doug Davis farms until retiring at the age of 61. During his retirement he continued to work beet harvest for Larry and Todd Burns until he was 87. He was a member of the Crystal American Legion Post #107. He enjoyed tinkering on machinery on the farm, deer hunting, fishing, camping, going for rides on the golf cart, pontoon and 4-wheeler, dancing, playing horseshoes, Yahtzee, pinochle and whist. He also enjoyed spending time and visiting with family. He is survived by his children: Vicky (Dean) Wilson, Hallock, MN, Bradley (Linda) Eide, Grafton, ND, Ronald Eide, Auburn, ND, and Rebecca (Robert) Swenson, Middle River, MN; 8 grandchildren: Mark Langley, Brian (Svenja) Langley, Lance (Kayla) Eide, Devin (Vicki) Kitchens, Nichole (Pepe) Martinez, Jessica Eide, Brandi (Travis Gritz) Anderson, Brandon (Cosi Lopez) Anderson; 18 great grandchildren; siblings: Sharon (Bob) Mason, GA, Kenny Eide, Shirley (LeRoy) Dolney, Roberta (Allen) Dinkle, Carol Willits, Doris (Lowell) Lene, all of Grafton, ND and Marvin Eide, Casselton, ND; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice, son Donald Eide, great grandchild Regina, brother Donald Eide, sister Donna Thielbar, and brother-in-law Russell Willits. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Military rites will be provided by the Crystal American Legion Post #107 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery.
