Edwin Heuchert

Edwin J. Heuchert passed away September 5, 2023 after a nine-month battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at United Lutheran Church in Cavalier, North Dakota. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church, and one hour before the time of the service at the church.
Edwin was born March 9, 1934, to John G. and Mathilda (Pfeifer) Heuchert at rural St. Thomas, ND. Edwin moved to the Cavalier area with his family in 1942. He attended country school and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1951.

On June 22, 1957, he married Dolores Karel at the Neche Methodist Church. To this union, three daughters, Kathy, Karen, and Kristi, were born. Edwin farmed his entire life and worked for carpenters during the winter. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, helping others with field work, and especially spending holidays and birthdays with family.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Dolores, of 66 years and daughters Kathy Guidinger of West Fargo, ND, Karen Heuchert of Eden Prairie, MN and Kristi (Ivan) Maas of Wahpeton, ND; grandchildren Marie (Dr. Brett) Milbrandt, Colin (fiancé Jana Beattie) Guidinger, Dexter (fiancé Nicole Crummy) Guidinger, Harrison (Lana) Maas, and Preston Maas; brother Larry (Ida) Heuchert; sister-in-law Donna Karel and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lenora Sommer, brothers-in-law Laverne Sommer, and Richard Karel, and nephew David Heuchert.
