Dorothea “Dorothy” Helen Novak, age 87 of Lankin, ND, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Center of Larimore. Dorothy Bosh was born on Saturday February 6th, 1932 to William and Josephine (Bina) Bosh at the family home in rural Lankin, ND. Entering into a farm family of 10 siblings, there was always excitement and adventures. She lived through the depression and the loss of both parents at an early age. The family was not separated and managed to remain on the farm. Dorothy met many challenges and hardships in her life with great courage. But she also experienced many joyous times. Dorothy was employed as a bookkeeper for the Baker Equity Co-op elevator. She was great at hosting card parties for friends. She enjoyed going to the casino, listening to old time music, Dolly Parton, The Bellamy Brothers, and Don Ho's "Tiny Bubbles ". Dorothy married Bruno F. Novak on November 6, 1950. They lived in Bathgate, Solen, Carson, Carrington, ND and Baker, MT. Dorothy returned to Lankin, ND after the passing of her husband Bruno in February 1982. She married Mark Novak in June, 1986. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she served as a sacristan and on the altar society. After suffering a debilitating stroke on December 10, 2012 she resided at the Good Samaritan Home in Larimore, ND. She is survived her children, Michael of Billings, MT, Cynthia (Tom) Gunderson, Yuma, CO, Pamella (Albin) Jallo, Fordville, ND and Kevin, Lakewood, CO. Grandchildren, Andrea (Tom) Mowat, Aaron Novak, Brett (Sara) Novak, Jenna (Jeremiah) Bentz, Christopher (Paula) Gunderson, Elizabeth (Malvin) Jones, Melissa (John) Bondy, Amber (Tanner) Brueckner and Amy (Taylor) Grabanski. Greatgrandchildren Douglas and Emily Mowat, Desmond and Quintas Novak, Archer and Lennox Debra Jean Novak, Rueban Whitney, Zander Bentz, Sydney, Izaak, Lane and Thomas Gunderson. McKenzie and Addasyn Struckmeyer. Colton and Jayden Bondy, Jack and Hannah Brueckner, Emma, Everly, Elinor and Maverick Grabanski. Sisters Marion Capouch, Minnie (Dennis) Cole and Gen (Ralph) Miller, sisters-in-law Laverne Bosh and Judy Bosh, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, spouses Bruno, and Mark J., daughter-in-law Deborah Jean Novak, grandson Jonathon Iver Novak. Great grandson Rowan Novak, siblings William (Georgia), Bartholomew, Florence (Raymond) Jelinek, Leo, Marcella (Herman) Capouch, Josephine (William) Brodina and Herman. Brother-in-law Albert Capouch. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 23, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Lankin. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 with a Rosary Service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery of Pisek.
