Donald D. Riske, age 75 of Forest River, ND passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton, surrounded by his loving family. Donnie was born on October 5, 1947 in Grafton, ND, the son of the late Hilary and Leona (Korynta) Riske. Donnie graduated from Midway School in 1965, he joined the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970 and worked for the BNSF RR Building and Bridges Department. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Wosick on June 30, 1978 in Ardoch, ND. He is a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto and the Forest River American Legion. Donnie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and playing cards with his family. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing with his buddies: George, Gary, Jack and Cokey. He started his day with having coffee at the café with his friends and cousin Jim. Donnie is survived by his wife, Bonnie Riske, Forest River, ND; sons: Michael (Carrie) Riske, Grand Forks, ND; Luke Riske, Grand Forks, ND; three grandchildren: Jersey Riske, Jack Riske, Ian Riske; siblings: Patty (David) Willson, East Grand Forks, MN; Mary Ann Bayne, Belpre, OH; Kathy (Rodger) Common, Mesa, AZ; Butch (Julie) Riske, Grand Forks, ND; Chris (Vernon) Langowski, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Merrie Dunlop; siblings-in-law: Wayne Olson, Williams, MN; Gail Babinski, Grand Forks, ND; Ed Olson, Drayton, ND; Shelly (Don) Reynolds, Edmore, ND and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Ronald, brother John, brother-in-law Lawrence Bayne, sister-in-law, JoAnn Riske, nephew Jeff Bayne and nephew Carl Riske. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Minto, ND. Visitation will be on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Forest River Cemetery, Forest River, ND, in the spring. Military rites will be provided by the Forest River American Legion Post #251 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Forest River Cemetery, St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Ardoch, ND, the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Minto, ND or any other charity would be appreciated by the family.
