Don Murray, 68, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at his home in rural Cavalier. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cavalier Baptist Church, Cavalier. Visitation will be held Friday, April 21, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:45 time of sharing at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Donald Wayne Murray was born April 1, 1955, to Robert and Frances (McEwen) Murray in Altona, Manitoba. Donny was proud of his dual citizenship. Donny attended and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1973. He furthered his education at NDSCS studying to be a mechanic. Donny often spoke about at an early age how he would work for area farmers. He like his dad could fix or operate any equipment of any kind, which he passed on to his son Joe. He had a passion for the land and what it could produce. Donny attended the Cavalier Baptist Church. In June of 1976 Donny married Kathryn Sargent. Donny adopted Angel and Jason, and together they had Joseph Robert in May 1977. On February 14, 2009, Donny married Michelle Hardy. This past year they celebrated their golden anniversary, 14 years on the 14th. Donny worked for and managed Murray Bean Plant and other bean plants in different areas. He then worked for Hamilton Systems for 17 years, retiring in 2021. Donny spent his retirement working with Joe in the cattle, farming, and enjoying time with family. Fishing with Joe and the grandkids on Father’s Day, or with Diane and Ron in the boat or on the ice was something Donny enjoyed so very much. Survivors include his wife, Michelle; son, Joe (Steph); daughter, Angel; grandchildren: Lexi (Cody), Joey, Devi, Jaxon, Dylan, and Brooklyn; sisters: Kathy (Bruce) Redanbaugh, Diane (Ron) Schillinger, Judy (Jim) Maurer, and Patty (Mike) Ahern; brother and sisters-in-law: Gary (Faye) Hardy, Joe (Norine) Hardy, John (Becky) Hardy, Todd Hardy, Brenda (Bob) Mitzel, and Rita (Brian) Visser, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Jason; grandparents, and mother and father-in-law.
