Derek J. Mondor

Derek J. Mondor, 32, formerly of Cavalier, ND, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at his residence in Grafton, ND. A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, in Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services.
     Derek J. Mondor was born August 5, 1990 in Robbinsdale, MN to Kenneth and Jodie (Jerome) Mondor. In 1996, he moved with his family from Fridley, MN to Cavalier, ND. He attended school in Cavalier and later worked at Wieler Construction, Kelly Bean, with his brother at CM Construction Services, and then at Marvin Windows in Grafton, a job he enjoyed.
     He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and he had an ability to make people laugh, especially his nieces and nephew, to whom he told many jokes. Derek was a very giving person and liked to help others out. Other things he enjoyed were playing pool and cards, the outdoors, camping, and singing especially to tunes on the radio.
     Survivors include his dad, Kenneth Mondor (Janet Johnson), Cavalier, ND, siblings: Dustin Mondor (Jayme), East Grand Forks, MN, Chad Mondor, Cavalier, Taylor Pearson-Mondor (David), Champlin, MN, stepsisters: Krista Johnson and Sarah Johnson, nieces and nephew: Zadie, Kinzie, Louke, Emma, Elowyn, and Bella, fiancé, Julie Peltier, and her family Brandon, Kailin, Summer, Ethan and granddaughter, Zyah, maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Rita Jerome. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
      Preceding him in death are his mother, Jodie, paternal grandparents, George and Leona Mondor, sister, Korina Mondor, Uncle Doug Mondor, and nephew, Tyler Pickard.
