Clyde C. Ellingson, age 91 of Park River, ND passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Clyde Ellingson was born October 20, 1928 in Edinburg, ND, the son of the late Willis and Blenda (Jungren) Ellingson. Blenda passed away when Clyde was 4 years old. Willis later married Ida Frovarp and together they raised the three brothers: Clyde, Ron and Boyd. Clyde grew up in the rural Edinburg area, attending school there and graduating from Edinburg High School in 1946. After graduation he worked for various farmers in the community and eventually bought his own truck to haul gravel to numerous work sites. Clyde entered the United States Army in April of 1951. He trained as an ammunition supply specialist and was stationed overseas in France. He was discharged in March of 1953. Clyde was united in marriage to Roselea Herseth of Adams, ND on June 5, 1954. They moved to Park River where he began working for Bateman Motors. This began his career of 42 years of working as a partsman for Ford Motor Company. After Park River, he worked at garages in Grand Forks, Grafton and Bismarck. He retired in April of 1994. In his retirement years, Clyde began making hand-made wood crafts specializing in shelves and child-sized rocking chairs. Roselea joined him as they made the circuit as vendors at numerous craft fairs in the area. They enjoyed their hobby and made many new friends through their work. Clyde and Roselea moved to the Good Samaritan Center of Park River in the fall of 2017. Roselea passed away on January 2, 2018 Clyde is survived by sister-in-law DeLane Disrud, Minot, ND, nephew Steven Disrud, Milaca, MN, nieces: Stephanie Heiberg, Eden Prairie, MN, Ronda Sangrait, Thief River Falls, MN and Kim Philipps, Yucca, AZ; as well as the thoughtful and kind neighbors and friends that have surrounded the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Roselea, and brothers: Ron and Boyd. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military Rites will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Inurnment will be at the Odalen Lutheran Cemetery of Rural Edinburg.
