Barbara Kay Peterson, 79, of Drayton and formerly of Langdon, North Dakota passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Wednesday June 19th, 2019. Barbara Kay Seivert was born September 17, 1939 in Cando, North Dakota to Richard and Elda (Juvrud) Seivert. Barbara was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She grew up in Egeland, North Dakota and graduated from high school there in 1947. Barbara went on to attend Deaconess Nursing College in Grand Forks. On December 12, 1958 she was united in marriage to Gerald Peterson. The couple settled in Denver, Colorado and lived there for over 2 years before moving to Grand Forks. After leaving Grand Forks they settled in Langdon. Barbara began working in the Cavalier Memorial Hospital in 1970 and was a health unit coordinator there until her retirement in 2013. Gerald passed away on October 12, 2011. Barbara was a member of United Lutheran Church while in Langdon and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the “Sweet Adelines”.
She is survived by children, Rocky (Mauricia) Peterson, Frederick, CO, Robby (Nicole) Peterson, Fairview, MT, Kerri (Brett) VanCamp, Drayton, Kristi (Kevin) Juhl of Drayton; grandchildren, Stacey, Brandon, Rebecca, Rachel, Brecken, Jerica, Alexandra and John; brothers, Richard (Sue) Seivert II, Canton, OH and Tennis (Irene) Seivert; a sister, Marjorie (Barry) Carlson, Trimont, MN; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Drayton Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon. Pastor Jon Dryburgh, presiding. Casket bearers will be Matthew Ott, Adam Mortenson, Kevin Juhl, Brett VanCamp, Fred Peterson and Alex Carlson. Visitation will be held at Austin Funeral Chapel in Drayton on Friday evening, June 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00.
