Alice Isabel Monson Carlson Alice passed away on October 25, 2019 in her home in Park River, ND. She was born to Oswald and Esther (Hogfoss) Monson on February 28, 1936 in a sod house on the Monson family farmstead in Norton Township. Alice married Norman Carlson on June 19, 1953 at Hoff Lutheran church; they farmed until 2008 when they moved to Park River. Norman passed away on Jan. 29, 2011. Alice attended a one-room schoolhouse in the Hoff coulee with her siblings and earned her high school diploma as a Park River Aggie in 1953, and as an adult took classes at UND. Alice was a lifelong member of Hoff Lutheran, American Legion Auxiliary member and officer, a 4-H leader and loved dancing with Dad, bowling, bingo and traveling. Alice was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved making hot cross buns at Easter, Yulekake at Christmas, popcorn balls for Halloween and communion bread. Over the years Alice had a variety of jobs as farm wife, potato and beet truck driver, store and office jobs. Surviving Alice are her four children, Kaye (Gary Dub) Carlson, Grand Forks, Beth (Richard) Carlson, Grand Forks, Russel (Candace) Carlson, Lankin, Noreen (Jeff) Sievertson, Kingston, WA; grandchildren Eryn Hagadone, BryAnn Colquitt (DJ), Lucas Bina (Amber Flath), Brooke Bina (Brian Soderholm), Chris Carlson, Jared Carlson (Crissy), Jennifer Carlson, Wade Carlson (Lara), Jacob Carlson (Mykal), Katherine Olson (Ryan), Cassandra Broadwater (Josh), and Marcus Hagness; great-grandchildren Nikko Hagadone, Bowie Bina-Soderholm, Marcus Jay Carlson, Elle and Romann Carlson, Wyatt, Ryder and Cheyenne Carlson, Conrad Carlson, Noah and Jocelyn Olson, Owen, Charlotte and Nora Broadwater. Survivors also include sister, Jeanne Monson, Grafton, brother David (Lois) Monson, West Fargo; in-laws Judy Bondy, Fargo, Clair Kroke, Fargo, Shirley Carlson, Park River, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant daughters Kari, Sylvia and Susan, brother, Ronnie Monson, sisters Mary Ann Daley and Ellen Carlson. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7pm at the Tollefson Funeral Home in Park River, with the prayer service at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 2nd at 10:30 A.M. at Hoff Lutheran Church in rural Adams. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Hoff Lutheran Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the Lankin Legion following interment.
