Marlene Monson, age 86 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at her home in Grafton. Marlene Schultz Monson was born February 21, 1940 in Acton Township, the daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys (Seeba) Schultz. She grew up and attended country school in Acton Township thought the 7th grade. Following her education she worked as a caregiver for a family in the Oakwood area until she started working at Ma Lerud’s Drive Inn in Grafton. She met the love of her life Mandus Monson and they were married June 25, 1961. They had two sons Dennis Monson of Grafton and Lynn Monson of Fargo. She helped and worked on the farm until the couple moved to Grafton in 1987. Mandus passed away in 2002 and she continued to make her home in Grafton until her passing. Marlene was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church. She enjoyed working in her garden and on puzzles. She is survived by her children Dennis (Fiancé Michelle Coulter) Monson, Grafton, ND and Lynn Monson, Fargo, ND; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings: LeRoy (Pat) Schultz, Grand Junction, CO, Gary (Barb) Schultz, Minto, ND, Karen Baier, Hoople, ND, Pearl (Bob) Paschke, Mapleton, ND; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Gladys Schultz; husband Mandus; daughter-in-law Mary Monson; as well as her grandparents, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:30 am at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.

Jeanne Lynn Craig, age 76 of St. Thomas, ND, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at her home. Jeanne Burger was born June 5, 1949 in Drayton, ND, the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred (Anderson) Burger. She grew up and attended school in St. Thomas. Following her education she worked as a caregiver at the Life Skills and Transition Center and later as a farm laborer for Gilleshammer/Thiele Farms. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in St. Thomas. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, playing cards, completing puzzles, watching TV, especially the Minnesota Vikings and Golden State Warriors, and reading. Jeanne is survived by her longtime partner Rafael Contreras, St. Thomas, ND; children: Tami (Dwayne) Craig, Jennifer Contreras, and Amanda Craig; grandchildren: Kurt Craig, Kaylee Bjorneby, Frank Contreras Jr., Austin Contreras, Desirae Morin, Braxton Contreras, Tristyn Craig, Justyce Wallery and Kyla Wallery; great grandchildren: Cambrie, Emmit, and Lydia Contreras, Amari and Harvey Contreras, and Thomas and Yana Morin; her fur grandbaby Sweetie Pie; siblings Earl Burger and Diane Campbell; and son-in-law Frank Contreras Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Troy Dale Craig; and siblings: Evelyn Boulduc, Alice Eide, Norman Burger, and Sharon White. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. The family request those in attendance to please come in their Minnesota Vikings or Golden State Warriors attire. Interment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery in the spring. Eugenia R. Dvorak, age 90 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Eugenia Novak was born July 24, 1935 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of the late Christopher and Mary (Hodny) Novak. She grew up and attended country school in Prairie Center Township. Following her education, she worked as a nanny for families with young children and for several area potato farmers. She later went to work for Kimballs Turkey Plant, the meat department at Piggly Wiggly, as a waitress at the café at Gambles, later taking it over, and at the Legion for a short time. She was united in marriage to Bennie Dvorak on June 20, 1961 at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Veseleyville. The couple made their home in Grafton where she worked at as a cook at the Grafton State School until retiring. Bennie passed away in 2014 and she continued to make her home in Grafton until her passing. She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton and a former member of the Altar Society. She was an excellent baker, known for her caramel rolls and kolaches. She also enjoyed tending to her beautiful flowers beds. She is survived by her siblings: Christopher Novak Jr., Grafton, ND, Ernest (Helen Soderfelt) Novak, Veseleyville, ND, Geraldine (Warren) Konze, Grand Forks, ND, Leona Sparks, Michigan, ND, and Donald (Janet) Novak, Veseleyville, ND; sister-in-law Betty Novak, Grafton, ND; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bennie; brother Cecil Novak; and infant brother Robert Novak. Interment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Richard Clemenson, age 84 of Hoople, ND, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Richard Duane Clemenson was born April 17, 1941, in Grafton, North Dakota, to Tip and Irene (Thompson) Clemenson. He attended Fertile Township and Walsh County Ag School in Park River, prior to NDSU, where he earned a degree in agricultural economics, played baseball for the Bison and was a member of AGR fraternity. He also served six years in the Air National Guard. He married Ruth Sletten on July 31, 1971, and they spent 54 years together on a seed potato farm in rural Hoople. He served as president of the Red River Valley Potato Growers Association and received its Meritorious Service Award. He also held positions on several boards including Walsh County Farm Bureau, Nash Grain and Trading, National Potato Board and Zion Lutheran Church. Richard was a gifted athlete and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He loved spending time at the lake, winters in Arizona, tending to his Juneberries, and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Kristin (Joel) Sobolik; Brad Clemenson; and Beth Wharam; six grandchildren, Hunter Sobolik, Wyatt Sobolik, Madison Sobolik, Claire Wharam (Luke Hanback), Greta Wharam and Nora Wharam; and sisters, Janice and Myrna (Rex) Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation, followed by a prayer service, is scheduled 4-6 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Hoople. A funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Zion. Roberta E. Eide, was born June 10, 1953 in Grafton, ND, the youngest child of the late Melvin and Bessie (Nelson) Eide. She grew up and attended school in Crystal, ND. Roberta knew a little boy who was 3 years older than her named Allen. She didn’t like Allen when she was little. He scratched her new bicycle and she was very upset, so they were enemies for a long time. However, as they grew older, they couldn’t deny their love for each other, and were united in marriage on December 7, 1974 in Walhalla, ND. The couple then made their home in Crystal, ND. Roberta loved being a homemaker and was an amazing mom to her two daughters. She worked during the potato harvest at O.C. Schultz and Sons in Crystal, ND. After the girls grew up and moved away from home, the couple moved to Grafton, ND to be closer to their grandchildren. She then worked as a housekeeper and a dietary aide at Lutheran Sunset Home. Later in life, the couple moved to Grand Forks, ND and worked at LM Windpower. The couple moved back to Grafton to retire and enjoy life. Roberta loved to work on Word Search puzzles, play kismet and play pinochle. Days of Our Lives was her favorite Soap Opera. and everyone knew not to bother her when it was on. Roberta was a very stubborn lady and a fighter, always worrying about her family until her last breath. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and all who were blessed to have known her. Realizing Cathy could no longer give, God called her home on February 12, 2026. Cathy Jo Johnson (Henrickson) was born on September 18, 1953 at West Point, NY to Jerley and Mary Ann Henrickson. She grew up in Stephen, MN and attended college at the Medical Institute of Minnesota. Later Cathy moved to Park River, ND, where she began her career as a veterinary technician at the Park River Veterinary Clinic. After marrying David Johnson on July 22, 1978, they built their family of three children. She was committed to working hard in every job she had but most of her career was dedicated to First Care Health Center. Cathy was an active member of the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and was passionate about helping others and giving back to the community. She was the type of person who wouldn’t bring just one pan of bars to the potluck, she would bring three, and then stay late to help with the dishes. Cathy enjoyed staying active and the outdoors, walking or biking around Park River and riding horses. Her life was a living example of kindness, compassion, faith, and pure selflessness. Cathy is survived by her husband David Johnson; son Dee Jay (Shannon) Johnson, daughters Mari (Jamie) Bennington and Kristin (Elibe) Elibe; grandchildren Jaylie (Kyle Snobeck) Woods, Tucker Woods, and Jayce Johnson; siblings Wendy (John) Oistad, Terry (Shannon) Henrickson, Todd (Shirley) Henrickson; Godchildren, extended family and friends. Kevin Basher, age 63 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at his home in Grafton. Kevin was born September 30, 1962 in Fargo, ND, the son of the late Kenneth and Delores (Erbstoesser) Basher. The family moved in Grafton in 1966 where Kevin attended school, graduating from Grafton High School. He enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard, serving from 1979-1988. He worked as a foreman at Tri-Campbell Farms for many years and later worked for Yardman Lawn Care. He started Basher Lawn Care which he ran until his passing. He is survived by his son Nicholas Basher, KS; daughter Dakotah Basher, Grafton, ND; step-daughter Arlene Storey, Brigham City, UT; grandchildren Jackson and Mackenzie Basher; siblings: Karen (John) Kramer, Bay City, MI, Mechelle (Andy) Komanetz, Grafton, ND, and Melanie (John) Mients, Detroit, MI; sister-in-law Karen Basher, Baudette, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Kenneth M. Basher and Danny Basher; sister Cheryl Green; and 3 nephews. Jessica Rose Longtine, 46 of Grand Forks, North Dakota passed away on February 7, 2026 at the Sanford Hospital of Fargo. Jessica was born on July 2, 1979 in Grafton, ND to Robert and Jeanette (Vondra) Longtine. Jessica attended and graduated from Devils Lake High School and loved participating in the North Dakota Special Olympics. She loved traveling and spent several years living in Kansas. Jessica is survived by her children; Melinda Burris and Alex Burris, her father, Robert Longtine, siblings; Ivan Longtine, Teresa (Ron) Mafnas, Lisa Olivarez, Heidi Longtine and Brian (Kassandra) Longtine and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Jeanette Longtine, brother-in-law, Albert Olivarez, and nephew, Cody Martinson. Her kindness, humor, and generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew her. She had a way of making those around her feel loved and appreciated. She will forever be remembered and deeply missed by all who loved her. Denault, age 68, of Grafton, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton. Terry John Denault was born November 8, 1957, in Cavalier, North Dakota, the son of the late John Joseph and June Judith (Johnson) Denault. His family moved frequently; therefore, he attended several area schools. Terry considered Deer Lodge, Montana, his childhood home. He went to work at a very young age in various potato houses as a young man no older than 15 years old, he worked day labor in Billings, MT, to assist in raising his siblings and financially supporting his family. Later he would move to Garrison, ND, where he worked for Cenex in the tire department. He then moved to Park River, where he lived with his uncle and worked at Park River Potato and Burbidge Seed. Terry was united in marriage to his first wife, Barbara Novak, and together the couple had two children: Tyrone and Melissa. They made their home in Fordville, ND. He began working for Associated Potato and construction trades during the off-season. Terry was fortunate enough to find the love of his life and become united in marriage to Dianna Severson on November 5, 1993, in Cavalier, ND. The couple welcomed two children: Montana and Terry Ray. The couple made their home in Park River. In the early years of their marriage, it was at Hart Machine and Manufacturing, where he learned his true calling, teaching and mentoring many people the trade. He then joined the team at Harriston Industry, where he maintained several positions. Later, he became the manager for Ryan Potato in East Grand Forks for several years. The couple moved to Grafton, he returning to his love, Hart Machine and Manufacturing, until the company’s closure; he became the wash plant manager at Campbell Farms for many years. During this time, they moved to Oakwood in 2009. Terry went back to Associated Potato Grower until he had to leave due to Chronic Kidney failure. He eventually regained enough strength through his strong will to return full-time at Associated Potato Growers Association for the final four month of his life. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group, Walsh County Gun Club, and the National Rifle Association. He loved his family through and through. He made every effort to give his children the childhood that he never had. He was able to find humor in everything, good or bad, and always made his family feel safe. He was an avid baker and gardener. He enjoyed antiques and being a collector of many things from bikes both motorized and pedal, watches, guns; along with vintage toys he wasn’t fortunate enough to have as a child; canons, steam engines, western memorabilia. He was a huge collector of cars, owning many throughout his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding his motorcycles and fixing his cars as well as creating things with his hands. He had a childlike, whimsical nature about him when he was in his element working on his latest project. Terry is survived by his wife, Dianna Denault, Oakwood, ND; his children: Tyrone (Rachel) Denault, Oakwood, ND; Melissa Denault (Brett Midgarden), Park River, ND; Leah Santos; Montana Denault, Grafton, ND; Terry R. Denault, East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren: Zeek Denault (Grafton), Kayden and Karlene Schaf as well as Oskar Saurer; his sister Shelly (Dale) Johnson, St. Thomas, ND. He is also survived by his uncle, aunts, nieces, and nephews as well as numerous cousins. We mustn’t forget his best friend and fur baby, Duke. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Marcel Denault Sr., Charlene (Roy) Swecker, and Gaylord Denault, maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. With a luncheon gathering to follow at the Heritage Village Center.
