Violet K. Nelson

Violet K. Nelson, age 93 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Violet Sandvig was born September 14, 1931 to the late Eldridge and Helen (Babinski) Sandvig in Grafton, ND.  She grew up and was educated in Grafton.  She was a telephone operator and worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone for 20 years.  She also was employed in Grand Forks, ND in the admitting office at St. Michael’s Hospital and in the office of JCPenney Co.  Later in life she owned and operated Grafton’s Greatest Deals, a furniture and clothing store on main street in Grafton, retiring at the age of 80 years old.
She was united in marriage to Carroll Nelson on May 29, 1994 in Grafton.
Violet is survived by her sister Shirley Johnson, Grafton, ND; as well as numerous niece, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carroll; 4 brothers; 4 sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery of Grafton in the spring.
