Rose Lynne “Rosie” Miller, age 79 of Fordville, ND passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at First Care Health Center of Park River, with her daughter by her side. Rose Lynne Beetz was born on July 17, 1943 to the late Edward and Merrie Constance (Williams) Beetz in Grafton, ND. Rose Lynne’s childhood started in Fargo where she attended 1st grade at Roosevelt School. She and her family moved to Fordville, ND, where she graduated from Fordville High School in 1961. Rosie was active in music and chorus. She participated in state music contests and Presbyterian church choir. Rose Lynne and Robert D. Miller were united in marriage in 1961 in East Grand Forks, MN. They made their home on the family farm, where they raised four children and farmed with her father-in-law, Dean and brother-in-law, Jim. Rosie helped with everything from tending the cattle to driving the grain truck. She was an incredible wife, mother and caregiver. Following the “women’s movement”, Rosie began her career in 1981 with the Good Samaritan Society of Park River as a nurse’s assistant and later as a Restorative Aid. She loved her work and retired in 2013, after passionately serving 32 years. She was honored in 1986 with the National Shorthorn Lassie of the Year award and the Farm Woman of the Year. Rosie was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fordville, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Fordville Curling Club, Homemaker’s Club, Order of the Eastern Star, Garden Club, and Book Club. Rosie loved spending time at the cabin on White Earth Lake with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, sewing, reading, and exchanging books with friends. She was incredibly musical, singing for numerous funerals, musicals, and area choirs. Rosie loved music. This was very evident when the three sisters would get together. Sooner or later, they were going to break out into song. Rosie is survived by her children: Roberta (Gene) Francis, Adams, ND and Philip (Marilyn) Miller, Devils Lake, ND; daughter-in-law: Joan Miller Leas (Jarrett Leas); grandchildren: Crosley Zahradka, Riley Francis, Phoebe Francis, Maris and Emmitt Miller; great grandchildren: Kellen Zahradka and Florence Silewski; sisters: Daphne (Bob) Sobolik, Fordville, ND and Ann (Dennis) Molenaar, White Earth Lake, MN; sisters and brother-in-law: Jim (Joan) Miller, Linda Larson (Gary), many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, beloved children: Ian and Lisa; son-in-law, Marvin Montgomery; grandson-in-law Nathan Zahradka, and in-laws, Dean and Eleanor Miller. Memorial Services will be Monday, May 22, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Federated Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Fordville, North Dakota.
