Robert LeRoy Quackenbush, 85, of Cando, ND, formerly of Rock Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Sanford Broadway Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Cando. Military Honors will be provided. Bob was born on 2-17-1935 in Cando, ND to Raymond and Evagene (Osborn) Quackenbush. Bob was raised on a farm in the rural Crocus area where he also attended school. Bob was united in marriage to Ilene Lindenberg on November 5, 1953. To that union four children Robert Jr. Jeanie, Pamela, and Susan were born. Bob joined the US Air Force in 1954. He took an early discharge in 1959 to return home to help on the family farm due to his step-fathers Herald Snavely deteriorating health. Bob continued to farm until 1982. After he retired from farm, he drove school bus, and also worked at the Rock Lake Cenex driving the bulk truck. For several years Bob cared for his wife, Ilene, who had suffered a stroke. In 2020 Bob sold his home in Rock Lake and moved to Cando. Bob could be found at the Rock Lake Cafe every morning playing cards. He was also an avid hunter. Above all, Bob loved his family and made many sacrifices for them. His grandkids and great-grandkids brought him so much joy. He usually had a child or two on his lap, whether it have been a little one or a big one. Bob is survived by his wife Ilene, children Robert Jr. (Shelly) of plains, MT, Jeanie (Tim) Wiener of Rock Lake, Pamela (Jeff) Berg of Webster, ND, Susan (Pat) Flanagan, of Hillsboro, ND. Eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. and two sisters Sandra (Morris) Parvey of Ramsey, MN, and Marcia (Lawrence) Thiel of Bottineau, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond Quackenbush, and James Snavely, and one grandson Kyle Quackenbush.
