Maurice David (MD) Collette, 94, of Grafton, died Nov. 3, 2020, at Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton. He was born Sept. 19, 1926, to Alcide and Beatrice (DeSautel) Collette, of Oakwood. He was educated at and graduated from St. Aloysius Academy, Oakwood. On Sept. 8, 1948, MD married Isabel M. Corriveau at Sacred Heart Church, Oakwood. They were lifelong sweethearts and were married 71 years at the time of her death in 2019. In 1953, they adopted a daughter, Bonnie Bea. A son, Donald David, was adopted in 1956. MD farmed his entire life in the Oakwood area, raising potatoes and wheat. He served on many boards and associations. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, curling and golf, celebrating a hole in one at the Grafton golf course. The couple were snowbirds for many years, spending winters in Mesa, Ariz. He retired from farming in 1991. In 2015 they moved to an apartment in Leisure Estates, Grafton, and subsequently into the nursing home there. Isabel died in December 2019. MD is survived by his children, Bonnie Kavanaugh (Jim Field), Fargo, and Donald (Karen), Hanceville, Ala.; two granddaughters: Jaime (Layne) Donovan, Virginia Beach, Virg., and Amanda (Frankie) Dyer, Centre, Ala; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister; Evelyn McCarty, grandson Nicholas Collette, and son-in-law Tom Kavanaugh. A private family service will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, at Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, with burial following at Sacred Heart cemetery, Oakwood.
