Lyle Gunvald Christofferson, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 9, 2021 at the age of 79. Services will be held at the Bisbee Lutheran Cemetery on July 1, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. Lyle was born on May 6, 1941. His parents Arthur and Nettie Christofferson raised him on the family farm near Bisbee, North Dakota, along with his siblings Gary, Marilyn, and Lee. He attended high school in Bisbee and college in Minot, ND. Lyle and his first wife Peggy LaFrance of Perth married in March of 1961. Together they had four children, Gary (Roseville, CA), Terry (Oroville, CA), Sonja (Elk Grove, CA), and Shelly (Forest Ranch, CA). Lyle worked for Northland Sporting Goods before opening his own sporting goods store with Peggy in Rolla, ND. After living in Rolla, his family decided to relocate to Northern California in 1979. Lyle worked in the landscaping business before returning to his passion in sporting goods. He worked in Fresno, CA for Herb Bauer for 15 years before retiring. Lyle met his second wife, Pamela, in Fresno, CA. They married on June 4, 1988. Pamela worked for Fresno Unified School District. Pamela has two sons, Charlie (Sanger, CA) and Cody (Fresno, CA), which Lyle played an active role in their lives. Lyle cared for Pamela for years when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease until it progressed to where she had to be provided with a higher level of care. Unable to spend time with Pam due to Covid, Lyle made the difficult decision to move to Oroville, CA in September 2020 to be closer to family. Lyle loved spending time outdoors. He rode snowmobiles, motorcycles, and horses. He was a hunter and fisherman. He loved his trips on horseback to the high country in California. Lyle was an encyclopedia of knowledge when it came to guns. He loved and adored his 19 grandchildren and his 5 great grandchildren. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary, sister Marilyn and step grandson Tyler. On January 21, 2021, just 12 days after Lyle’s passing, Pamela passed away and was reunited with Lyle. Lyle is survived by his brother Lee, his four children, 2 stepsons, 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. All who knew him will dearly miss Lyle. He will be forever in our hearts and memories.
