Joy M. Ferguson

Joy M. Ferguson, age 94 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the Unity Hospital of Grafton, ND.


Joy M. Sellheim was born October 30, 1926 in International Falls, MN the daughter of the late John and Mary (Skaro) Sellheim. The family moved to Hensel, ND where she grew up and attended school. Joy was united in marriage to Robert Thorvilson in 1943. The couple made their home near Adams, ND. She later married Churchill Ferguson in September of 1956. The couple lived in Adams, Edinburg and Grafton, ND.  Joy worked as a resident care technician at the Grafton Developmental Center and later at the State Hospital in Jamestown, ND. After her retirement she moved back to Grafton and has made her home here since.


She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church.


Joy is survived by her children: Robert (Eileen) Thorvilson, Fargo, ND; Wayne (Mardy) Thorvilson, Gilby, ND; LuAnn (Roger) Capouch, Stacy, MN; Terry (LouAnn) Thorvilson, Fairdale, ND; Carla Kleven, Grafton, ND; Craig (Lisa) Ferguson, Grafton, ND; Stacie (Mitch) Ensrude, Grafton, ND; Troy Ferguson, Grafton, ND; 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; siblings: Richard (Irene) Sellheim, Grand Forks, ND and Darlene Bjerke, Park River, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dallas, grandson, Luke Thorvilson, great grandson, Luke Capouch and siblings: Willard, Leonard, Virgil, Robert, Jackie, Gordon, JoAnn and Betty.


Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 11:00 A.M at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
