John Schnellbach, age 86 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at his home near Grafton, ND. John Schnellbach was born July 3, 1934 in McHenry County, ND the son of the late Joe and Regina (Wagner) Schenllbach. He attended rural school there. Following his education he worked as farm labor and mechanic in the area. John was united in marriage to Agnes Degenstein on September 30, 1957 in Anamoose, ND. He worked construction in several areas before moving to Grafton in 1974. John had started working as a mechanic for Hanson’s Implement in 1973. He retired in 1991. He enjoyed restoring old tractors in his spare time and over the years had restored many. He is survived by his wife, Agnes of Grafton, ND his children: Joe (Patricia) Schnellbach, Gerald (Mary) Schnellbach, Viola (Brian) Hildebrandt all of Grafton, ND; Bridget (Brian) Legg, Grand Forks, ND; John Jr. (Marissa) Schnellbach, Mentor, MN; ten grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his sister, Rose Kohler, Bismarck, ND; and brothers: Albert of Fargo, ND and George (Shirley) of Anamoose, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Jacob, Edward and Walter and sister, Loretta. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 26, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Grafton, ND. Face masks are recommended.
