Gene Lloyd Larson

​Gene L. Larson, age 93 of Park River, ND passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at First Care Health Center of Park River.
Gene Lloyd Larson was born September 4, 1926 on the home farmstead in Kensington Township, Walsh County, ND the son of the late Enoch and Pauline (Kjos) Larson.  He attended rural Kensington Township schools and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. 
Gene served in the Armed Forces from 1946-1947.  He was united in marriage to Ruth Loftsgard on June 29, 1949 in Bagley, MN.  After their marriage, they farmed the family farm near Warren, MN and later Park River, ND.  Gene was also in partnership with his brother, Neil, operating E. Larson & Sons Trucking and a potato wash plant until the 1980's.
He was a member of Park Center Lutheran Church of rural Hoople and later Victory Free Lutheran Church in Park River.  Gene enjoyed visiting with friends and strangers alike sharing stories of life especially trucking stories. He was proud of the fact that he managed to convince many of his nephews to give trucking a try at one point or another.  Faith and family were very important to Gene.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and attending their many school and sporting events.  He was a kind and caring grandpa especially so to his special needs grandson, Jesse. 
Gene is survived by his brother, Neil Larson, Park River, ND; sons: Stephen (Dena) Larson, Park River, ND; Dwight (Shane) Larson, Park River, ND; grandchildren: Christian (Ashley) Larson, Andrea Larson, Shannon (Jon) Markusen, Joshua Larson, Jacob (Savannah) Larson; great grandchildren: Josie, Elias, Emma, Sophia, Hadley, Beau, Brody, and Brooke; sister-in-law, Eleanore Alexander; several nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, parents, grandson, Jesse Larson and several brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at the Victory Free Lutheran Church of Park River.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.  Military Rites will be provided by the Park River American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
