![]() Gary Dean Hagler, 80, of Cando, ND passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. A private family funeral service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Cando with Pastor Rick Craig officiating. Music will be provided by Gladys Fluge. Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando. Burial will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Cando at 11am on Monday, December 7, 2020. Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church, Country Lanes Bowling Alley, or North Star School all in Cando, ND. Due to Covid-19, the following CDC recommendations are highly encouraged: social distancing, hand cleansing and sanitization, and wearing masks. Please stay home if you are not feeling well or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19. Gary was born on November 14, 1940 in Mott, ND to Roy and Mildred (Bosanco) Hagler. Gary was raised on the family farm and completed his elementary education at Timber Creek School. He graduated from Mott Lincoln High School where he was involved in football, basketball, FFA, and was a class officer. Gary then attended Dickinson State College where he completed a composite science major and played football. Gary was a science and math teacher in Egeland, ND and also taught drivers education. He coached the football, track, and basketball teams and also was the janitor at Egeland School starting in 1980. Gary owned and operated Cando Greenhouse for a number of years. He retired and enjoyed watching activities of his grandchildren. Gary was united in marriage to Sharon Bergan on June 23, 1962 in Mott and to that union five children were born: Laurie, Wendy, Sherri, Jeff, and Corey. Sharon passed away in 2002. He married Peggy Watson in 2004. He enjoyed traveling, camping with family, gardening, woodworking and other building, puzzles, cards and other games, and bowled for many years. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan. He and Peggy were able to take two bus tours to major league baseball stadiums and a cruise to Alaska. Gary is survived by his wife, Peggy, daughters, Laurie (Lonnie) Komrosky, Wendy (Victor) Pintar, and Sherri (Brad) Miller; sons, Jeff (Marla) Hagler and Corey (Lisa) Hagler, all of Cando; grandchildren, Tanner (Ashley) Komrosky, Jayden Komrosky, Jesse (Jill) Vote, Megan Vote, Kodie Vote, Stephanie Miller, Jacob Hagler, Sarah (Mason) Haley, Danielle Hagler, Hayden Hagler, Dane Hagler, and Hunter Hagler. He is also survived by his brother, Arlin Hagler of California. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; and brother, Don Hagler.
