Frances Schuster, age 91, of Grafton, North Dakota passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Frances was born on October 29, 1933 in Grafton, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Arthur and Louise (Campbell) Collette. She grew up in the Oakwood area, graduating in 1952 from St. Aloysius Academy in Oakwood. Upon graduating, she worked at the S&L Department store in Grafton. Frances was united in marriage to Leonard Schuster on June 14, 1954 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oakwood. Frances and Leonard farmed in the Warsaw, North Dakota area while raising their three sons. Frances worked as an independent painter for many years. In 2001, the couple purchased a home in Grafton. Since January 2020, Frances has resided at the Leisure Estates Apartments in Grafton. Frances was active in many local organizations, including the Grafton Hospital Auxiliary, Sacred Heart Society of Warsaw and the Altar Societies of both St. John’s Catholic Church, Grafton and St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Warsaw. Frances enjoyed gardening and yardwork on the family farm which continued when moving to Grafton. She enjoyed baking, including making her family’s favorite dinner sweet rolls (recipe from the Dakota Maid Flour bag). Frances was always generous with her time putting friends and family first. Frances is survived by her sons: Glenn (Jane) Schuster, Vadnais Heights, MN; Scott Schuster, Grand Forks, ND; Guy (Barbara) Schuster, Bloomington, MN; four grandchildren: Kyle (Lindsay) Schuster, Megan (Garrett) Reed, Katie (Adam) Herbst, Michael Schuster; three great grandsons: Walker, Weston and Cooper; sisters: Joyce Lessard and Carol Gallagher. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, four brothers and three sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery of Warsaw, ND. The service will be livestreamed on the Tollefson Funeral Home Website.
