Eleanor Wosick, age 95, of Grand Forks, ND died Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks, surrounded by her six loving children and her sister, Mary Ann. Eleanor Passa was born on April 26, 1924 on a farm in Ardoch Township in Walsh County, ND, the daughter of John and Agnes (Miller) Passa. She graduated from Oslo High School as valedictorian of her class in 1943 and then worked in California for a year making airplane parts for the war. Upon returning to North Dakota, she attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Grand Forks. On July 28, 1947 she was united in marriage to Richard John Wosick at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, ND. After their marriage, they lived on a farm near Warsaw and in 1958 moved to Eleanor’s family farm in Walshville Township, ND where they continued to farm and raise their family. Eleanor resided in Grand Forks since Richard’s death in 1988. Eleanor was a great seamstress, cook, baker and always had a large garden and canned many vegetables for her family to enjoy. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans and, later, playing bingo on Sunday afternoons with her friends. Eleanor volunteered at Altru for more than 2,000 hours after moving to Grand Forks. She valued spending time with her grandchildren, always having homemade cookies ready for them and especially having the candy dish filled with her Candy Kisses! Eleanor is survived by sons, Arthur (Joane) Wosick, George (Dawn) Wosick, both of Warsaw, ND, Richard (Peggy) Wosick of Oslo, MN; daughters, JoAnn (Larry) Lessard of Grand Forks, ND, Judy (Thomas) Cochran of Las Vegas, NV and Mary Lou (Michael) Sweet of St. Paul, MN; 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Isabel Barrett of Long Beach, CA and Mary Ann Bushaw, who resides at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents John and Agnes Passa, husband Richard, sister Gertrude Gerszewski and husband Henry, brother Edward, three older siblings who died in early childhood, and brothers-in-law Douglas Barrett and Arthur Bushaw. The family would like to thank Eleanor’s caregivers at Valley Senior Living for the patient and loving kindness and care they always provided to their mother. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation: 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the church on Saturday. Burial: 3:00 p.m. Saturday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Warsaw, ND.
