Darlene “Dar” M. Hendrickson, age 86 of Edinburg, ND, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Wedgewood Manor of Cavalier, ND. Darlene M. Warner was born July 11, 1938, in Larchwood, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Leona (Laackmann) Warner. After attending school in Rock Rapids and Lester, IA, she went on to graduate from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA, in August of 1959. Darlene married Bradley Hendrickson on September 6, 1959, in Rock Rapids, IA. They resided in Sioux Falls, SD, where her nursing career began at the Sioux Valley Hospital. In 1964, they relocated to Adams, ND. Then in 1972, they bought and settled on a farm near Edinburg, ND where they would both tend to their flock of sheep. Darlene continued to work as a nurse at various local hospitals over the years, including Grafton, Park River, and Cavalier. She then worked several years as the Director of Nurses at the Good Samaritan Senior Living Center in Park River, ND, and continued to work at the Good Samaritan until her retirement in the year of 2000. Darlene was a member of the Quick Response in Edinburg and also spent time training new EMT’s. She enjoyed time with her family, attending sporting and musical events, trips to Iowa to visit her parents, siblings, and extended family, hosting many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at her home, and playing softball whether it be on a team or her home team (family) in her yard. Being an avid reader and writer, she also spearheaded a book on the History of the Park River Bible Camp. She loved gardening whether it was flowers or vegetables, singing hymns with the church choir, and long walks down the country road next to their home. Darlene had an infectious laugh if you were lucky enough to experience it. You could often see her and Brad at church or somewhere enjoying coffee around a table of friends. Darlene is survived by her husband, Bradley; her four daughters: Rhea (Duane) Restemayer, Edinburg, ND; Rona (Kerry) Johnson, Greeley, CO; Diane (Bruce) Ralston, Mountain, ND; and Terri (Dan) Holt, Hoople, ND; her grandchildren: Angela (Chris) DuBois, Desiree (Jon) Gabriel, Heather (Art) Flores, Paula Putrino, Alex Holt, Erica Ralston, and Jacob Ralston; six great grandchildren and one great great grandson; her siblings: Dennis (Esther) Warner, Rock Rapids, IA; Donna Johnson, St. Louis, MO; Delmer (Karen) Warner, Spencer, IA; and Doug (Donna) Warner, Sioux Falls, SD and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Leona Warner. Funeral services will be Friday, November 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. The service will be livestreamed on the Tollefson Funeral Home website. Interment will be at the Sarepta Lutheran Cemetery of Rural Adams. . In lieu of flowers the family would favor donations in remembrance to the Park River Ambulance, the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg or the Sarepta Lutheran Cemetery of Adams.
