Clayton R. Lewis, age 85 of Drayton, North Dakota, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton. Clayton Ray Lewis was born January 29, 1941 in Pembina North Dakota, the son of the late Horace and Elsie (Lorenzen) Lewis. He attended rural schools and enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his Honorable discharge, Clayton returned to Hoople where he worked for area farmers. He moved to rural Drayton, where he made his home until the time of his death. He was a member of the Hoople American Legion Post. He loved being involved with his family’s activities, he liked gardening and old tractors. Clayton is survived by his siblings: Anna Mae Spiekermeier, Lisbon, ND; Donna Nordling, Grand Forks, ND; Marie Fontaine, Grand Forks, ND; Robert Lewis, Grafton, ND; Janice Lewis, Grand Forks, ND; Shirley Mitchell, Bentley, ND; Dean Lewis, Grafton, ND; Rebecca Lewis, Millinocket, ME; Michael Lewis, Cavalier, ND; Rosie (Paul) Kotaska, Grand Forks, ND; Vonda (Gene) Felton, Page, ND; Donald (Gail) Lewis, Grafton, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Elsie Lewis, brothers: Charles Lewis and Gerald Lewis; brothers-in-law: Glenn Fontaine, Roy Spiekermeier and Richard Mitchell and sister-in-law, Bonnie Lewis. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Drayton City Cemetery, Drayton, ND. Military Rites will be provided by the Hoople American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. The funeral will be livestreamed on the Tollefson Funeral Home website.
