Carol Monson, 83, of Park River, formerly of Fairdale, ND passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on April 24th, 2021. Carol was born on June 3, 1937 in Boulder Junction, WI, daughter of the late Milton and Margaret Tice. She grew up with four brothers, and attended high school in Presque Isle, WI. She moved to California after high school and married Leroy Monson on April 5th, 1958. They moved to Fairdale, ND and started farming in the spring of 1960 in the surrounding Fairdale area. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Fairdale Farmers Union Oil Station and Fairdale International Harvest. She was a waitress at the Stables Supper Club and also the Fairdale Café. She was a census taker and very active working on the farm. Carol was a very talented and artistic person with painting, ceramics, hardanger embroidery, quilting, knitting, sewing, and making jewelry. She was a great baker, cook, gardener, and enjoyed working her beautiful flower gardens. She was a member of the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Fairdale, Alter Guild, Fairdale School Board, St. Olaf Church, Ladies Aid Treasurer, Church council, Community club secretary/treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and Upper Valley Riding Club Secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy of 60 years, and brothers Allen and Gene Tice. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her 3 children and spouses: Teresa (Doug) Pipal of Buffalo, MN, Karen (Charlie) Chyle of Lankin, ND, Jeff (Kim) Monson of Northwood, ND. Seven grandchildren: Travis Goodrie of Fargo, ND, Ryan Goodrie of Grand Forks, ND, Alyssa (Brian) Dietrich of Lankin, ND, Adam and Adison Pipal of Buffalo, MN, Ben and Grace Monson of Northwood, ND. Three great children: Morgan, Mason, and Gyda Dietrich of Lankin, ND. Two Brothers: Mike Tice of Marenisco, MI and David Tice of Two Rivers, WI. Plus many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, Fairdale, ND. Visitation will be Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the St. Olaf’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fairdale, ND. A video of the service will be posted on the funeral home website following the service. Masks are required for those attending the service.
