![]() Michael Elmer “Hozer” Thompson, 40, of West Fargo, ND passed away on September 6, 2024, in his home. A memorial service will be held on September 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cavalier Evangelical Free Church in Cavalier. Hozer was born to Michael J. & Cynthia (Woinarowicz) Thompson on December 17, 1983, in Cavalier, ND. He was raised in the country in Hallson, ND, and attended Cavalier High School. At the age of 18, Hozer was working at Grain System Repairs until he moved to South Carolina for a short time before returning to North Dakota to work construction. Throughout his life, he worked in construction, diesel & auto mechanics, and trucking. After 11 years at Close Construction in Milton, ND, Hozer pursued a career as a diesel mechanic in West Fargo, ND. In 2008, Hozer took on his most important role - a father to Shawn Eric Thompson. Hozer had many hobbies and talents including fishing, working on cars, building computers &stereo systems, and making people laugh. He was known for his sense of humor, storytelling abilities, and generous & caring nature. He is survived by his son, Shawn Thompson of Grafton, ND, his father Michael J. Thompson of Cavalier, ND, his mother, Cynthia (Woinarowicz) Thompson of Cavalier, ND, his 5 siblings, Adam Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD, Eric Thompson of Cavalier, ND, Holly (Joseph) Young of Neche, ND, Selena (Jason) Tesmer of Neche, ND, and Crystal Symington of Cavalier, ND, his nieces and nephews, Kane Moon, Sierra Johnson, and Mason Symington, and his great-niece Luna Moon. Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to invite everyone to the Minto Community Center following the service for a time of lunch and fellowship. ![]() Doris Magenau, 92, formerly of Cavalier, ND passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Doris Elaine Ness was born December 31, 1931, in rural Minot, ND to Alfred and Gladys (Rovig) Ness. She grew up near Minot and attended the Torning Township country school. Doris graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo, ND in 1951. On November 4, 1956, Doris was united in marriage to Arnold John Magenau in Grand Forks, ND. Doris briefly attended nurses training in Chicago and worked for Trinity and St Joseph’s Hospitals in Minot from 1951 to 1956. At the same time, she was also employed at Taresenko Nursing Home. She moved to Grand Forks in 1956 and worked for Deaconess Hospital. She met Arnold that year and they married. They moved to rural Hamilton, ND in 1958 and then into Cavalier, ND some years later. She continued to work as a nurse’s aide at Pembina County Memorial Hospital from the late 1950’s to the mid-1980’s. She was a proud and devoted farmer’s wife until Arnold’s death in September 2001. Later in life, Doris moved to Grand Forks to be closer to family. Doris is survived by her children: Timothy (Fern) Magenau, Fargo, ND; Julie Magenau, Park River, ND; Steven (Tracy) Magenau, East Grand Forks, MN. She has 7 grandchildren: Dale (Stephanie) Magenau, Manvel, ND; Crystal (Luke) Oellien, Harwood, ND: Jarrett Magenau, Minot, ND; Savanah (Austin) Knutson, Emerado, ND; Kendra, Mason, and Alyssa Magenau all of East Grand Forks, MN. She also has 4 great grandchildren: Colby & Andrew Magenau and Jameson & Madison Oellien. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Valerie Ness, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters: infant twin Duane Ness, Glennys Ness, Marie Levadney, Glenn Ness, Alvilda Pfeiffer, and her loving husband of nearly 45 years, Arnold. Ganssle, age 86 of St. Thomas, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, September, 1 2024 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton. Donald Duane Ganssle was born June 19, 1938 in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of the late Garfield and Ella (Dietrich) Ganssle. He graduated from St. Thomas High School and attended the University of North Dakota and Aaker’s Business College. Donald was united in marriage to Sharon Lunde on October 20, 1958 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, North Dakota. The couple made their home in Crookston, St. Thomas, California for seven years, Minot for two years and settled in St. Thomas, where they farmed and raised their family. The couple wintered in Alamo, Texas for the last 26 years. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, ND, he was an Elder at the church for 50 years, was a St. Thomas Booster, served on the St. Thomas School Board and the Crystal Co-op. Donald loved to be with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, woodworking, having coffee at the café in the mornings and watching western’s on tv. Donald is survived by his daughters: Susan (Rick) Bigwood, St. Thomas, ND; Cindy (Roger) Littlejohn, St. Thomas, ND; his grandchildren: Kayla (Doug) Skramstad, Chad (Valerie) Bigwood, Amanda “Mandy” Littlejohn, Ethan (Amanda) Littlejohn; seven great grandchildren; his sister, Deanna (Jerry) Loreth, Breckenridge, MN; sister-in-law, Linda Ganssle, Park River, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon, brother Fred Ganssle and sister Marlys Stark. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. ![]() Edith Einarson, age 90 of Grafton, ND and formerly Edinburg, ND passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Edith McKay was born in South Olga Township, Cavalier County, North Dakota on the family farm to the late William and Armanda (Monnett) McKay. She attended country school in rural Milton. After her education she worked for area farmers. Edith united in marriage to Kenneth Gallaway in 1952 in Hallock, MN. They settled in Grafton where they raised their children. Kenneth passed away in 1990. Edith worked for Life Skills and Transition Center until her retirement in 1997. She moved to Washington State to spend time with children and grandchildren. Edith moved back to Grafton in 2008. She married Harold Einarson and they lived in Edinburg until his death in September of 2022. Edith loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed country music, country drives, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was a huge Matt Dillon fan and loved her episodes of Gunsmoke. Edith was a professional thrifter and garage sale connoisseur. Edith is survived by her children: David (Janie) Gallaway, Petersburg, ND, Daniel (Donna) Gallaway, Drayton, ND, Deb (Lloyd) Einarson, Edinburg, ND, Dennis (Elaine) Gallaway, Grafton, ND, Dawayne (Terri) Gallaway, Kennedy, MN, Darrell (Felicia) Gallaway, Helma, MN, Denise Pritchett, Grafton, ND, Darlene (Butch) Allum, Port Townsend, WA, Diana (D.J.) Hartje, Kilkenny, MN, Cathy Fulton, Port Townsend, WA, and Mark Gallaway, Grafton, ND; 46 grandchildren; 120 + great grandchildren, and several great, great grandchildren; siblings: Ed McKay, John McKay, Willy McKay, and Rose Marie Radway; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Kenneth and Harold, daughter Donna Srnsky, granddaughter Courtney Fulton, infant grandson, grandson Gregory Gallaway, and brother Ralph McKay. Funeral services will be on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Grace Free Lutheran Church of Edinburg, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Vang Cemetery of rural Walhalla, ND. |
