Lois I. Otto, 92 of Hatton, ND and formerly of Edinburg, ND passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026 at the Hatton Prairie Village of Hatton, ND. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Hope E. Dahlgren, age 98 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Memorial services will be Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the Vang Lutheran Cemetery of rural Fairdale. Lynn R. Kubat, age 57, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026 at the St. Rose Care Center of LaMoure, ND. Lynn Robert Kubat was born July 24, 1968 in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of Robert and Carol (Augustine) Kubat. Lynn grew up in Park River, North Dakota and graduated from Park River High School in 1989. He worked many years at Jim’s Super Value. Lynn moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota and worked at Prairie Harvest. Lynn was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Park River, North Dakota. He enjoyed riding his three-wheelers, driving his truck, loved listening to music, bowling, camping and hanging out with his family. Lynn is survived by his parents: Robert and Carol Kubat, brother, Dennis Kubat, sisters: Cheryl (Dean) Kosobud and Tammy (Corey) Stork. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Terry Kubat, grandparents: Arthur and Mabel Augustine and Joseph and Alice Kubat, uncle Kenneth Augustine, aunt and uncle, Shirley and Sonny Larson and niece Jennifer Houghton. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, North Dakota. Hazel G. Summers, age 92 of Park River, ND and formerly Grafton, ND passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Society of Park River.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery of Park River, ND. George J. Tibert, 77, of rural Voss, North Dakota, passed away July 3rd, 2026 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. George Joseph Tibert was born on October 12th, 1948 to J. Budd and Louise (Wosick) Tibert of Voss, ND. Raised on the family farm in rural Voss, he attended Minto School before serving in the U.S. Army from February 1968 to December 1969, during which he was stationed in Germany. George was self-made machinist, a collector, loved history, and was, in every sense, an artist. He enjoyed painting, creating stained glass, rebuilding antique automobiles, creating original works of art, and was known for his remarkable craftsmanship and creativity. George had an endlessly curious and unique mind. He possessed an extraordinary ability to turn his visions into reality, impressing those who knew him with his talent, knowledge, and ingenuity. George is survived by his special friend Kim Tweten, siblings Bill (Jody) Tibert, John Tibert, Melvin (Cathy) Tibert, Mary Alice (Mark) Tweten, Ione Worman, Andrew (Rhonda) Tibert, sister-in-law Suzi Tibert; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Louise Tibert and Lorraine Tibert, brothers Walter Tibert and Mark Tibert; brother-in-law, Joseph Worman and nephew, Daniel Worman. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Minto Community Center. Family and friends are invited to attend. Maxine Schanilec passed away on July 1, 2026 at Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton ND. Maxine, daughter of the late Joseph J. and Hattie H. (Dvorak) Schanilec, was born May 26, 1937 at the farm in Ops Twsp, ND. She graduated from Ops Dist 33 rural school, from Minto High School and she received a Bachelor of Business Science degree in accounting from Upper Iowa University in Lafayette IA. During her career she worked in Grand Forks ND, Seattle WA, Palo Alto CA, Minneapolis MN and back to ND. Maxine loved to travel and with the help of her cousin, Martha Jelinek, she made contact with the Bares/Schanilec family in Hurka, Czech Republic (CR). Unfortunately, after just one communication with the CR, the communication stopped. Some years later, she had the opportunity to travel to CR. While it was still under communist control, the country did allow her trip to Hurka to meet her relatives, an experience of a lifetime. She visited with them several times after that initial meeting, including a trip to Prague where she met other relatives from ND who also visited with these relatives. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her siblings: Albertine (Gene - dec.) Ricard, Zimmerman MN; Phyllis (Carl) Wilkes, Grand Forks ND, Danette (Phil) McKenzie, Bismarck ND and brothers Francis (Mary - dec.) Schanilec, Grand Forks ND, Richard Schanilec, Forest River ND and David Schanilec, Viola KS. And Terry Lee. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 1 pm at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton ND. Visitation begins at 12 pm before Mass. Interment will be at Calvary South Cemetery, Grand Forks ND. |
