​Marilyn Ruth Dietz, 79, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in Grand Forks, ND.

Marilyn Ruth was born on August 14, 1946, to Arthur and Lola Schrader. Marilyn went to school and graduated from Langdon High School. Following graduation, she attended Aaker’s
Business College in Grand Forks. On October 25, 1975, Marilyn married the love of her life, Kenneth Dietz. Together they built a life rooted in hard work, faith, and family. For many years, Marilyn and Kenneth worked side by side on their farm, dedicating themselves to the land and the farming way of life. Their commitment and perseverance provided a strong foundation for the years they shared together. After retiring from farming, Marilyn and Kenneth embraced the opportunity to travel, embarking on numerous international adventures and creating treasured
memories around the world. 
     They also enjoyed spending their winter months in Edinburg, Texas, where they formed
lasting friendships and enjoyed the warmth of the season. Marilyn found joy in many pursuits
throughout her life. She was an avid baker whose kitchen was often filled with the aromas of
homemade treats. She loved gardening, canning the fruits of her labor, sewing, crafting, and
traveling. Without a doubt, her favorite pastime was golfing. This was evident by the countless
hours she spent at the Langdon County Club. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she
faithfully attended church, finding comfort and community in her congregation. 
     Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Dietz; her parents, Arthur
and Lola Schrader; her brother, Ronald Schrader; and her infant brother. Marilyn will be
remembered for her strong work ethic, kind heart, adventurous spirit, and the love she shared
with family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the memories she
leaves behind. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
     A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Brooks Funeral
Home in Langdon, ND. Inurnment will be held at Lebanon Cemetery in Langdon.

Doris Trontvet, age 89 of Edmore, ND, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Doris Sperling was born June 21, 1936 in Dresden Township, the daughter of the late Bernard and Lena (Domres) Sperling. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Nekoma High School. She earned her teaching certificate from the Mayville Teacher’s College and returned to the Langdon area where she taught country school for a few years. She was united in marriage to Earl Trontvet on June 8, 1958 in Nekoma, ND and the couple made their home on a farm near Edmore. They retired from farming in 1979 and moved into Edmore in 1984. She worked for the Johnson Store and later the O & D Café. She worked for 28 years at the Edmore Rest Home before retiring. Earl passed away in 2001 and she continued to make her home in Edmore until moving into the Lutheran Sunset Home in May of 2026.
She was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and completing crossword puzzles. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids.
She is survived by her children: Kent (Peppi) Trontvet, Grafton, ND, Keith (Leann Flaaskog) Trontvet, Edmore, ND, and Kerry Trontvet, Edmore, ND; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother Delmar (Carol) Sperling, Washington State; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl; brothers: Richard, Clarence, Edwin, James, and Robert Sperling and sister Idella Kuchar.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Edmore Cemetery, Edmore, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to HIA Hospice.

​Gwendolyn V. Askim, age 97 of Park River, ND passed away on Sunday June 7, 2026 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.
Gwendolyn V. Ness was born on September 11, 1928 to the late Thomas and Inga (Linstad) Ness, at the family home in Adams. She was baptized and confirmed at Mountain Adams Lutheran Church and graduated from the Adams High School with the class of 1946. After graduation, Gwendolyn attended Mayville Teachers College. She began teaching in rural country schools.
Gwendolyn married Clifford Askim on June 19, 1949 in Adams, North Dakota. They made their home near Lankin, where they farmed. Gwendolyn actively farmed with her husband and enjoyed living in the country. She was a member at Hoff Lutheran Church and WELCA. Clifford passed away on May 27, 1987 and Gwendolyn remained on the farm until moving to Park River in 1996, where she lived until her passing.
Gwendolyn is survived by her daughter Corrine (Curtis) Berg, Park River, ND; grandchildren: Jen Berg, Michigan, ND, Jes Berg (Ryan Langerud), Hankinson, ND, and Jerri (Josh) Bennington, Park River, ND; great grandchildren: Colton Berg (Marissa Hawkins), Zac Bosh, Paige Bennington, Lyndsay Weiskopf, and Charlie Weiskopf; and great, great granddaughter Alaïa Bosh. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter LaVerne Askim. 
Funeral services will be on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Hoff Lutheran Cemetery of rural Adams, ND.

​Raymond J. Eastman, 72, of Cavalier, ND passed away Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Heather’s House in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home in Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held one hour before the time of services. Burial will be held in the Hallson Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Pembina County Historical Society, Borg Home, Pembina County Fair, or charity of your choice.
Raymond was born the only child of Andrew and Amity (Porter) Eastman on May 17, 1954. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Cavalier, graduating in 1973. Ray then continued his education at Lake Region College in Devils Lake, ND, before returning to the farm.
Things he enjoyed were spending time at the Pembina County Fair, Pioneer Machinery Show and Museum, taking rides for ice cream, and visiting with friends. Raymond also spent many hours tending his cattle, putting up haystacks, walking the land, and starting his own Christmas tree farm after working at Pages Pines. He was a member of the former First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Amity, grandparents, Ira and Jennie Porter, and Barney and Christine Eastman, several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

Daniel A. Daley, age 75 of Park River, North Dakota passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.
Daniel Ardell Daley was born August 21, 1950, in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of the late Ardell and Mary (Ganyo) Daley. He attended school in Grafton, graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in 1968, and attended NDSU. He began working for Polar Communications in 1970 and continued there until his retirement in February 2006. Daniel was united in marriage to Sandra Pokrzywinski on June 17, 1972, at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople. The couple made their home in Park River, where they raised their family.
He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Park River and a dedicated member of the Park River Volunteer Fire Department, serving his community since 1976.
Dan loved his family tremendously and shared a special bond with his brother, Tim. Whether they were planting potatoes and corn, cruising the back roads, or tackling a project, the two were rarely far apart. They always seemed to find something that needed to be fixed.
You could often find Dan at the Eastside enjoying a cup of coffee or a cold beer, and a good conversation with friends. He never passed up the opportunity to visit and was known for telling stories—often the same stories more than once—but somehow, they were just as entertaining every time he told them.
Dan loved the outdoors, especially hunting season and fishing trips with friends. He also looked forward to making deer bologna and summer sausage, a tradition that brought family and friends together.
Dan enjoyed spending time with all his kids and grandkids (especially playing cards). He was always willing to lend a helping hand or answer the many questions that came his way. He loved the time he spent at the lake with his family and appreciated the opportunity to travel, go camping or attend car shows. Dan and Sandy enjoyed spending time together on trips to the casino, where he accompanied her to bingo and occasionally took in a concert.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Sandra Daley, Park River, ND; his children, Scott (Shelly Dub) Daley, Pisek, ND; Trish (John) Dukek, West Fargo, ND; Trudy (Jeremy) Boelter, Moorhead, MN; Jon Daley, Park River, ND; and Shawn (Shelby) Daley, Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Jessica, Nevin, Cody, Kailey, Kristin, Erica, Xander, Autumn, Ava, Liam, Hayden, Annabelle, Mackenzie, Landon, and Serena; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim (Renae) Daley, Park River, ND; Kathy Wilmer, Park River, ND; Tim (Cheryl) Daley, Park River, ND; and Renee Ortado, Greeley, CO; brother-in-law, Randy (Sue) Pokrzywinski, Walker, MN; sister-in-law, Lori Meske, Hillsboro, ND; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardell and Mary Daley; Sandra’s parents, Walter and Mildred Pokrzywinski; and brother-in-law, Wayne Pokrzywinski.
Memorial Services will be Friday, June 5, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
