Anna Margaret (Stensland) Thompson, 87, of Drayton, ND passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton, ND.
Anna Margaret was born July 17, 1932 in Drayton, ND to Pastor Osmund and Anna (Oveson) Stensland. She was baptized and confirmed at Skjeberg Lutheran Church. She was very proud to be a pastor’s daughter. Anna Margaret attended school at Tien Country School and Kennedy, MN. She graduated high school in 1950 at Kasson, MN. After graduation, Anna Margaret worked for a time as a nurse’s aide in Rochester, MN. In 1952 she married Harris Olson. They returned to Drayton where they made their home. Anna Margaret worked for many years at the Drayton Hospital and Clinic. She worked for several doctors in Drayton from Dr. Waldron to Dr. Meyer. Later in life she worked at Curnal’s Drive-In and Associated Potato Growers. In 1973 she married Bob Thompson. Bob and Anna Margaret continued to live in Drayton and also enjoyed spending time at their summer place at Rocky Point on Lake of the Woods. Anna Margaret loved spending time with family. She enjoyed knitting, needle point, cooking and baking, reading books, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.The highlight of her week was going to bible study led by Jon Dryburgh. She loved cheering for her favorite team, the Minnesota Twins and playing the occasional bingo and card game with friends at Tisdale Manor. Anna Margaret is survived by her children - Nancy (Todd) Woinarowicz, Drayton, ND; Richard (Susan) Thompson, Mascoutah, IL; Robert (Joanne) Thompson, Morris, MN; Shelly (Mike) Stewart, Baudette, MN; Renae (Ron) Tveit, Warroad, MN. Grandchildren – Dylan Woinarowicz, Kim (Michael) Magathan, Kara (Jonathan) Loden, Kelly (Thomas) Beasley, Kristen (Craig) Meng, Allison (Dan) Lenmark, Angie (Kyle) Vershey, Alissa (Barnaby) Allen, Justin (Sara) Tveit, Whitney (Grant) Rasmussen, along with 21 Great Grandchildren. Sisters - Ruth Stevens and Mary Ellen Larson, and several nieces and nephews.Anna Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, daughter Becky, great granddaughter Sophia Lenmark, brothers John, Norman, and Osmund Stensland, sisters Gertrud Hollander, Alice Stensland, and two infant daughters. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Drayton Lutheran Church, Drayton, ND. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Drayton City Cemetery.
