Alice J. Gillies Midboe, age 94 of Park River, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Alice J. Erovick was born July 21, 1925 in Park River, ND the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Vavrosky) Erovick. She attended schools in Park River, ND. Following her education she worked in various places throughout the United States. She returned to Park River and was united in marriage to Roy Joseph Gillies. The couple made their home in Park River where she did seasonal farm labor. She later worked at the Club Bar and managed the Alibi Bar for several years. Roy passed away in July of 1973. Alice married Marvin Midboe on February 25, 1993 in Park River where they made their home. Alice and Marvin enjoyed a wonderful life together. They traveled to many states in their little TravelVan with their dogs, Dogie and Hercules. When they weren’t traveling or out dancing, they loved entertaining people at their farmhouse. There were many picnic’s with great food, visiting, guitar playing and singing. He passed away on November 3, 2015. Alice was a member of the Park River Federated Church and the Park River American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered with the Meals on Wheels Program for several years. Alice was an avid bird watcher and gardener. Once she grew a giant sunflower in her front yard and she and her “Flower” were pictured in the Walsh County Press. She loved and cared for animals, great and small. Recently, Alice’s greatest pleasure came from her 2 O’clock coffee parties. Anyone and everyone were welcome. We will all miss those special times. She was a big Twins fan and loved her Twins T-shirt given to her by a neighbor. Alice is survived by her daughters: Joan Mastre, Park River, ND; Mari (Don) Swartz, Grafton, ND; stepsons: Duane (Kathy) Midboe, Climax, MN and George Midboe, Inkster, ND; granddaughter: Sami (Christian) Dahl, Minot, ND and five step grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, grandson Timothy Mastre and son-in-law, Ron Mastre. Funeral services will be held at the Park River Federated Church when the COVID-19 Restrictions have been lifted.
