Agnes M Lessard

Agnes M. Lessard, age 98 of Grafton, ND passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Agnes M. Collette was born December 18, 1921 in Oakwood, ND the third child of Arthur and Marie (Campbell) Collette. She attended St. Aloysius Academy in Oakwood, ND. Following her education she took the civil service test and went to work in Washington, DC during World War II from 1942-1945. Agnes was united in marriage to Maurice Lessard on June 29, 1945 in Sioux City, IA. The couple moved back to Grafton following Maurice’s military service where they farmed and raised their family. Upon retirement the couple spent the winter months in Mesa, AZ. Maurice died in October 12, 1992 and Agnes continued to live in Mesa until moving back to Grand Forks, ND and later the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton.

Agnes is survived by her children: Jolene (Kurt) Stiver, Niles, MI; Wayne (Avis) Lessard, Grafton, ND; Lloyd (Debbie) Lessard, Cherry Valley, CA; Bruce Lessard, Grand Forks, ND; Darryl Lessard, Grand Forks, ND; Douglas (Kate) Lessard, Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and siblings: Joyce (Roman) Lessard, Grafton, ND, Roland (Elaine) Collette, Grafton, ND; Frances Schuster, Grafton, ND; Carol (Terrance) Gallagher, Tumwater WA; sister-in-law, Lorna Collette, Grafton, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings: Romeo Collette, Margaret DeMers, Kenneth Collette, Maurice Collette, Juliette Lessard and grandson, Andrew Lessard.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from 9-10 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church. Social Distancing guidelines will be observed and Masks are required. Private family funeral services will be held on Wednesday with interment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
